Re: re-post from BHB: Got a STD in the mail with....
Just to give my 2 cents. I never gave registry info to anyone, unless they asked. I didn't have a shower. We did send STDs and had an E-party, but did not include registry info in either, as I didn't think it was appropriate. The E-party was a way for both sides of the family to meet before the wedding, not to get gifts (although we did receive some and some of those people figured out how to find out where we were registered.)We did have a free website, through a wedding site, but I didn't list the registry options on there - the site must have searched my name and date and it automatically set it on there for me.
I am not saying I am better than anyone, or everyone should do what I do, but there are traditions that people follow when it comes to weddings. If you choose not to follow them, that is certainly your perogative, but you have to be prepared to take the heat for it from the more traditional people.

I dunno. Bridal shower with the regsitry cards I can understand. Enagement party, all right, I'm not having an engagement party, but I can understand that too. But the STDs? and the wedding invite? Sheesh, that's a bit much, don't you think? I mean, the purpose of you inviting guests isn't about getting presents, is it? Besides, you're going to find that there are people who aren't going to give you an envelope or that your cousins will just sign their parent's cards, or that your friend who you gave three different gifts *and* stuffed their envelope with a wad of cash won't be as generous. Happened to both of my brothers.

I think it's a little off-putting to include the registry cards in the STD's. At that point, the guests are being given a head's up on your date so they can fit it into their schedules. IMO, it looks like you are asking for a gift regardless of whether or not they can attend your wedding.
Including it in the shower invites is a little different, b/c those guests are generally closer in relationship to the bride, and would probably give a gift even if they were not able to attend.
I agree 100%![]()
Same here. The shower is enough
