Since Im bored at work...I will give you the advice I can think of but I know I have lots more because everytime I would think of something, I would say 'I should tell the msg board girls this' - and that happened a lot.

Point 1: Don't worry about the weather. I stressed about it the entire week before. And once you see a bad report there is no way you can stop yourself so DON'T LOOK in the first place.

Point 2: Get it all done early. This goes for all the planning. When I first started doing stuff, many vendors would tell me 'you have plenty of time'. Well the reality is - the time flies by and then you are left with a really long to-do list. Even with all my organization - i still have a lot to do in the end because I procrasted on things. One of the best things I did was drop everything off to my reception site a full week before the wedding. Once that was done - it was a huge weight off my shoulders.

Point 3: Don't invite anyone you don't like.
For me - there was only one woman there that I couldn't stand (MIL's friend) And wouldn't you know it - she caused the biggest scene at the worst time. I wish I did what I wanted and not invited her.

Point 4: Get the best vendors you can afford
Don't sell your blood or anything - but don't scrimp if you can avoid it. I hired my florist because they were the cheapest option - looking back, I wish I had spent a few extra dollars and would have avoided aggravation.

Point 5: Get a VIDEO!!
I was so anti video all along. I thought it was the most tacky and annoying thing about any wedding I have been too. But if I had not gotten one, I would have been heartbroken!! I can't wait to see my footage to see all the things that I missed.

Point 6: Treat your bridesmaids as friends, not workers
I have touched on this before but I think the effort and expense involved in being a bridesmaids should be regarded by the bride as work. I know my friends did it out of love and don't think of it as work - but I know they deserved to be treated well as a result. I spent A LOT of money and time in honouring them and making sure they enjoyed themselves throughout the planning. I made sure they loved their dresses, choose their own accessories and were done up to feel beautiful (not to look like I wanted them to look but how they felt best) I think they appreciated all of that and it made the whole a thing a much better experience. My maid of honor was literally the best maid of honor anyone could ask for - she deserved 10x the thanks I could have given her.

Misty - I posted photos elsewhere of my gifts but I gave them:

a)Monogrammed bathrobes with a big box of bath goodies including slippers, loofah on a stick, bath salts, rubby ducky and ton of other little stuff.
b)Marcasite earrings (MOH got Marcasite earrings, a marcasite pin and marcasite watch).
c)Bridesmaid Luncheon which was going to see the broadway show 'Caberet'
d)Hair done on me

I had a similar experience w/ Spitz and Peck. I just thought I didn't make myself clear but after reading your review I am not alone. I booked them based on their glowing reputation. When I went to see my sample it was nothing that I wanted. At that time I was once again assured that they knew what I was talking about. I ended up going to see them two days before the wedding b/c I was nervous that the flowers woudn't be right. I sure am glad I went. Once again they had to totally redo the sample. I still was not completely satisfied but my mother was. I let it go since she was happy with it.

In the end the flowers were beautiful but I felt that I should not have had to go through all the stress in the first place. Unlike what you said S&P were not at all my cheapest quote but based on their reputation I felt comfortable paying more thinking I would not have any problems. I am not saying that the flowers were not beautiful I just felt that things could have gone a lot smoother.

Sonic, sounds like a great day! I am also using the 47 Caddy from Royalty. Glad to hear it worked out. Can't wait to see pics.

fYi- I met with Spitz & Peck on Sunday at the Huntington location, and they totally don't have a problem with a 'no white flowers' thing. The closes I am having to white is a cream colored rose in some boutennieres and my bouquet (minimal- mostly fall hues).

Anyway, like I said, can't wait to see pics, the ones I have seen so far are awesome.
