Ron, that is SO TRUE...you cannot kill Honda/Acura cars...they last forever. The Pilot sounds great...I think we will probably test drive one, but I am still not in love w/the idea of an SUV.

Anna, my friend just got a Toyota 4 Runner, and she LOOOOOVES it.

Ron, thanks for all the info. John (hubby) is now SET on the Pilot. He has done lots of research and it seems that we might become 'Pilots'

I Love my Civic, I'll miss it, but it's getting too tight with a carseat in the back! and I have to agree, Honda's last forever!

What color do you have? (thats all us girls care about, LOL ) I really like the white!

Dont tell me you went to Nardy Honda (in Smithtown) - we had a bad experience there (VERY NASTY/obnoxious salesguy) so Huntington got the sale of my Civic

We bought our Pilot in November and LOVE IT!!!
We bought it from Hempstead Honda and were very happy with their service. I also have a 1995 Civic and know how well Honda is made.

Yep, we have it in white (my lexus is in white too - liz loves the color, or the lack of it LOL)!

Funny, we went to that dealer initially. My father is friends with the owner for years. Anyway, Liz goes back to speak with him and you wouldn't believe what he starts saying! Tells her how he would never get married because he is 'doing' all his female freinds and that children are a great form of birth control (mind you my son was with her). Is he nuts talking to my wife like that? Well, she walked out and so did our business.

You can't go wrong with Huntington.

BTW - get the wood trim for the interior. Really dresses it up nice. Also get the cargo mat for the rear. Protects the carpet when you put dirty or wet items in the back. There is no negotiation on the price of the vehicle but there is on the extras, so get a good deal on them.

And don't forget, if you plan on leasing get the car now. As of July 1 there will be no more leases for any cars!!!

OMG ! Those Nardy guys should be out of business, I wanna throw up when I see NARDY on someones plates! That's really disgusting what he said to your wife! I would have ripped him to pieices! I say we spread the word that NARDY STINKS.

No negotiating?? This is MEEE we're talking about. I cant imagine NOT negotiating! Isnt that 'transportation fee' (of like $200) negotiable? Im pretty sure I had it waived when I got my car... Well I try to get a few car wash coupons every time I go in for an oil change (I hope you do too!-Free car wash @ Dix Hills CW)

Edited to add: Jenn, whats the price range of the 4Runner? Must be roomy. I cant get a truck like my brother did (Isuzu Axiom) just for looks, well too 'boxxey' for me, and not spacious at all)... LOL

Anna, I don't know exactly, but my friend who bought it is a HUGE bargain hunter (like someone else I know!) , and wouldn't ever think of paying a lot for a vehicle, or even paying the sticker price!

I'll ask her the price range.

I got my Honda at Nardy (my Dad knows the people there) and there were never rude to me at all. You should call the owner to report that Ron.

I love my Civic too. At some point it will have to go, but till then I will be happy with it.

If they can talk to Rons wife like that (and Rons dad knows the owners), shame on them! They were quite rude and obnoxious to us also, and several of my husbands coworkers. You just get that feeling of someone deceiving you and kicking you as you walk out the door.
I will never walk into that place again, and we have since then told several friends to stay away.

Huntington Honda is excellent. Free coffee while you wait, they are quick, efficient, polite, and friendly.

The price of the Pilot is the price (except for the extras - and unless things have changed in the past month). Know what? As much as I like to negotiate a good deal and I've just about always bought a car for less than the tissue price (dealer so call cost), I like having to make my decision based on the dealer, not the price.

Okay, since you brought it up - If you paint 'I LOVE LIWeddings.com' on the auto I will make part of your payment. How's that for a deal?

BTW-In all honesty, I wouldn't bash an entire dealership because of one bad apple. Not really fair to the owner and all the employees who depend on them to make a living.

Honda USA calls all owners a few weeks after you purchase a vehicle. I mentioned what happened to them.

True Ron, its not right to bash a place after one bad experience, but its hard to forget certain things. and in the field of customer service, you should KNOW how to keep a customer It makes me crazy to see people that just simply CANT BE NICE! What does it cost to be polite and smile?

Claud2001 - I know what you mean about not being crazy about an SUV. This one is so different from the rest JMHO of course! It's built on the mini vans frame. Thus, you don't have to CLIMB UP into it and it's not a hard ride like other SUVs. I know, I'm starting to sound like a Honda salesman. But this vehicle really won me over. Right now I own a mini van, GS300, Firebird and the Pilot (and the motorcycle). I now take the Pilot everyday. Liz gets mad because she wants it for shopping. She gets stuck with the mom mobile (mini van) and doesn't like it.

I have a Honda CRV, and Ron is right, there is no negotiating the price. I think I got something like $400 off, and some extras thrown in, but there was no budging on the price.
Are you a member of costco, or Sam's, or BJ's? My mom bought her Subaru through BJ's auto program, and got her car for dealer cost. Not sure if honda does anything similar, but it's something to look into.
