As one other posted mentioned, I had always wanted a sapphire engagement ring, but my DH wasn't aware and his proposal was VERY much a surprise to me (I didn't really have the opportunity to drop any hints) he gave me a standard round tiffany set diamond. Its beautiful, so I couldn't say, can you take it back?

I had my way with the wedding ring, though, and I proudly wear my alternating diamonds and sapphires band. You gotta LOVE THE COLOR!

I was wondering when this one would pop up...I love her ring!

BTW, I can get pictures of any stone/diamond combo once I get back to work...so I'll add pics on Tuesday! I love colored stones!

I really wanted a ruby or garnet engagement ring and FH knew this all along. But since I am not traditional at all, and he very much is, I kind of lost that battle.

Well when we went ring shopping, I really couldn't find many e-rings with ruby centers that I liked. The few I did see online were not good quality. And when I saw the ring I have, I fell in love with it because it was different in it's own right...and it is a diamond, which made FH happy because he couldn't imagine giving me an e-ring and it not being a diamond.

Here's what an idea of what I really wanted.....but the quality just wasn't that great...

I love this thread, I don't usually say much but I have a sapphire and didn't want anything else. I am designing the weddign band to also include sapphires

Wow these rings are amazing, I am a little jealous that I have a standard diamond. (even though I do LOVE my e-ring) It's made me think maybe I will go for a multi-stoned wedding band!

Love the sapphire. But it's my birthstone so I had sapphire rings already and so I don't think it would have worked as a e-ring. One Christmas (before we were engaged) my FH gave me a ruby ring and my mom thought it was an e-ring!

Ruby is my birthstone, and one x-mas my FH gave me a ruby and diamond ring, and my mom thought the same thing!

(The ruby, however, would be wayy too small for an e-ring for me!)

Darn I could never have gotten a birthstone engagement ring!!! My birthstones are pearl and alexandrite!!! (June)
