Sasha, I know you work in jewelry, but I could send you his way too. you know, the original ring I wanted was from Tiffany, and it was aquamarine, which is only a 7 on the harness scale, and a sapphire is a 9...one shy of the diamond's 10.

You rock with your knowledge! I know aquas are soft, but they're so beutiful and delicate...although I'm rough, so go figure!
Your sapphire totally looks like a fancy color diamond...a vivid blue (which is the rarest - and you know that). Tiffany actually owns a blue diamond called 'hydrangea' and your ring reminded me of that. Plus the clarity of the side stones is crystal clear...your FH did a great job! But like I said, I'm rough and I would totally scratch my stones...

Ignore the ignorants! A quality semi-precious stone can go for much more than some diamonds...I bet your ring cost more (and Q's) than the 'average' 1.5ct e-ring...because people don't do their research and think diamond + big = better...they're wrong!

So ladies, show off that left hand!

And I know she's not on LIW and I hope she doesn't mind...but one of my fave rings belongs to Nic aka Dollface646 on theknot...not to mention that 2 of my co-workers own gorgeous sapphire and diamond e-rings and they cost more than most people's e-rings and they're Tiffany's!

This is Nic's:

Re: the non-diamond e-ring thread!

thanks Sasha! my thoughts exactly. this one did cost a little less than the diamond we were looking at, but we were going with quality over size with that one too!

this is the right I originally wanted, from Tiffany...

also, I am rough too, but so far so good.I am just going to have it cleaned and polished every so often.

jeez Louise Sasah! you hit it right on the head! I do still love that ring, but I love mine so much more. the blue of the sapphire is amazing and my band has little diamonds all around it and such an intricate design.

Can you tell I am in LOVE

that's right Q- PLAYA HATERS (not you girls!)

I'm re-setting my e-ring and taking the old setting and putting a sapphire in it.

if you don't already have a dealer for your stone, please allow me to recommend mine. he was great and gave us a good price and the stones are gorgeous. I have a ceylon sapphire (which is why it's a little lighter in color) but he has many gorgeous precious and semi-precious stones..

Thanks, aquamarine is my b-stone and I love it.

I would love a Ceylon Sapphire. My setting is trillions. I'm re-setting my diamond with bigger and better trillions and a heavier shank.

I would love a recommendation. Does your jeweler deal in diamonds too?

Does anyone have a pic of an aqua in a trillion setting?

I don't have a pic like that, but I will look for my jewelers info. he is in the Bowery Diamond District. he has a booth in Paramount Jeweler's Exchange I think. he doesn't sell diamonds, but we bought my setting from another vendor there that does.

These rings are all so beautiful. I like someone's suggestion for an anniversary ring I'll have to hint to FH like 5 years down the line when he'd be able to afford it!

What cut center do you want?

ETA: OK since you didn't answer and I'm impatient (and have to get back to work) here ya go...although the trillions aren't diamonds, they sure can be!

OK...the first is Aqua and green Tourmaline trillions...the second is Aqua and yellow Sapphire trillions and the third is Aqua and pave diamonds (but it totally could be trillions). Sorry most of the rings at work don't have pics for me to see.

The last ring I just love...and it's a lot more expensive than my e-ring and w-band put together and then some!

Re: the non-diamond e-ring thread!

Sorry, I actually had to work. Round stone. I would like to get an idea what it's going to look like reset.

It's a toss up between aqua and sapphire. The trillions are diamonds.

Those rings are beautiful.

Well, the second pic is round with trillions...and they are beautiful. The cheaperst is $7K, the most espensive is $31K.

So to all those who think colored stones girls get jipped, here's proof otherwise.

So how much would a high quality aqua or ceylon sapph go for per carat? That 2nd pic looks oval to me...sorry, didn't realize it was round.
