Re: THE OFFICIAL SCRAPBOOKERS THREAD
just found some tips on a websiteTips
How to set Creative Imaginations Extreme Eyelets
by Kristi Wright—Education Director
1. Punch appropriate size hole using an “anywhere hole punch”.
2. Push eyelet through hole. Turn the project upside down to the back side.
3. Pound the eyelet using your Making Memories cone tipped eyelet setting tool. ( I used the Making Memories Universal Eyelet Setters item #20957.)
4. Once the eyelet begins to spread, switch to the 3/16” Making Memories “splitting” eyelet setting tool to finish the setting of the eyelet.
5. Because there is a long stem on some of the eyelets, you may choose to finish attaching the eyelet by lightly pounding directly onto the backside. This will slightly flatten the backside of your eyelet and give your eyelet a tighter fit on your project.
Tips:
· Be sure the surface below your pounding mat is a hard, stable surface.
· Attach Extreme Eyelets to a portion of your page that can be removed in case of over pounding the eyelet.
· When pounding your setter, be sure to hold your setter as straight up and down as possible to avoid a lop-sided eyelet.
· Periodically check the front of the eyelet to make sure you are not pounding too hard and warping the look of the eyelet.
· Due to the nature of the shape of the square eyelet, a slight amount of warping should be expected.
· The Extreme Eyelets are larger and made from a harder metal than most other eyelets, so they may not set a quickly as other eyelets.

I have been scrapbooking about a year and I became really disappointed with the array of precut die wording at the ONE scrapbook store in town. I tried using stencils but it still seemed harder than was necessary to line it up and such. I FOUND a great way to make perfect lettering every time and the choice of fonts are as numerous as your computers font file. any of you who have Microsoft publisher on your computer can do this. I first write what I want in large lettering and then format the font to Outline mode, I then print it in mirror image. when the page comes out its printed reverse, I then cut it out and when I turn it over it looks as professional as any diecuts I can buy at the local shop and it says exactly what i want it to. Just a thought for all you looking for that extra special edge in wording.

While I was waiting in a home improvement store for my husband to get some things, I looked at some wallpaper books. I saw a book for children's rooms that had adorable characters in it. I borrowed the book (they wanted a $25 deposit but it was returned to my Visa account when I returned it) and copied many of the images on my scanner. Now I have free clip art that I can make any size and print out to use in my layouts.

I often am working several different pages before finishing each one. I found that using the large 2 gallon Ziploc bags are ideal for putting all the parts in until I get around to finishing the page. They are big enough to hold the 12 x 12 inch pages. When I finish the page, I can reuse the bag so a box will last for a long time.

I made a memory album of each of my grandchildren's photos and they were a lot of work. I wouldn't part with the albums for anything but at the same time I thought it would be nice if they each could have a copy of their own book. I scanned each page into the computer and printed a copy of each child's book. They loved having a book about themselves. It would also make nice gifts for aunts, great grandparents etc. The scrapbooks can also then be stored on CDs for sharing or in case of disasters.

'If your gel pen stops rolling, dip the ball point in dish soap. Any glycerin type product would probably work, but dish soap is the only one I have actually tried. It does take as many as four dips sometimes but it works. After you dip the end scratch the pen back and forth on some paper. Repeat until your pen rolls again.'

'I came across an idea that worked really well for me. My kids are all elementary school age and they constantly bring home art work from school. It gets overwhelming sometimes, then the other day I used one as a background paper for a spring page. It came out so great, it looked really good, and the kids were so excited to see their own work featured in the scrapbook.'

'When I use my oval or circle cutters I cut out the insides and save them for another time. I don't only use them for matting smaller pictures, I also use them for journaling clouds and borders.'

'Hi there - I'm Kisha Johnson from Buffalo NY. I've been scrapbooking for 2 yrs now and I'm completely hooked! This definitely isn't like other hobbies! Anyway - I'm writing because I finally found a system that works for me when it comes to organizing my photos. I used to store them in picture boxes by date/event. I found, though, that shortly after the event, I would forget what the pictures were, where I'd stashed them, and I found myself in a puddle of pictures that a seasoned scrapper wouldn't even want to touch!
While at the store a couple weeks ago, I happened upon a sale of photo albums, the kind with slip pages - you can store (2) 4x6 pictures in each sleeve per side. What a stroke of genius! I now take my pictures the moment I get them back from the store, and slip them into the sleeves of the photo album. This is multi purposed. First and foremost my pics are safe, and in chronological order. Second, it's easy for me to flip thru the pages, all events are together, and find/choose the pics I want to scrapbook. Third - it provides a way for visitors and family to browse thru family pictures without having to wait months for me to scrapbook them!
Hope this helps all of you! '
