Re: The Official Villa Lombardi's and PJCC Thread ( I have noticed some more recent brides!)

Here is my cake. This is the NO FRILLS, 'we are not paying another dime for anything cake.' If it is free it is for ME!

And let me tell you it was the BEST darn cake I ever had! It was light pink with whipped butter cream icing that is so whipped it is like cream, chocolate cake with raspberry and chocolate mousse filling.

They have several ones that you can pick from.

Re: The Official Villa Lombardi's and PJCC Thread ( I have noticed some more recent brides!)

I am very happy to see a Lombardi/PJCC thread! I'm having my reception out at Port Jeff next September. Very excited. I LOVE the idea of the chocolate fountain. I really hope that they do actually get one. I think someone told me you were not allowed to rent one and have it brought there, but I didn't actually ask directly.
I'm glad you guys talked about the showcase thing. I didn't realize there was no tasting (not that we're too concerned about how the food will be!!!)
Can't wait!

has anyone been to PJCC since it has reopened for an event?

Re: The Official Villa Lombardi's and PJCC Thread ( I have noticed some more recent brides!)

My wedding is a week from tomorrow at Villa Lombardi's! I must say.. we caved in and upgraded the cake.. Our BM said it was on 'sale', so for $300 we got the upgraded cake, the personalize menus and the cake box to take our top layer home in. We are having viennese hour so I KNOW we did not need to do this.
We are paying our LAST installment tomorrow--I can't wait for that to happen! We have been paying them for 18 months!! -kelly

I just found this out.. Childs meal is any of the choices for dinner or chicken fingers and french fries.

Yeah!! I'm so excited for this thread!!

I went to see the PJCC when it officially opened in May, but haven't been back since. I am going there this Sunday to check it out again and will take more pictures to post on this site.

Thank you!!

They told me they automatically box up the top layer of the cake for you. Do they put in a special box or something?

Re: The Official Villa Lombardi's and PJCC Thread ( I have noticed some more recent brides!)

No it is just a regular old big cakes box.....way too big actually for the cake.

Here is a pic of my cake.....it is the standard one they just did a little different design for me at no charge.

So who is your banquet manager?

I have Glen who is fairly new . . .

I am a little miffed w/him right now because he was supposed to get back to me about some issues with Dept. of Health listings after PJCC re-opened and he never did.

Re: The Official Villa Lombardi's and PJCC Thread ( I have noticed some more recent brides!)

If you cry and beg about doing your own menus they will let you do them. A friend's brother got married there and they did there own. They will want toreview them, htey ahd a bride put chocolate mouse as the dessert once, os theya re very picky. But if you wna tot do anything just whine and cry and they will give in.

With the rose petals, I used silk yellow, since they are wooried with the floors, that someone could slip on the real ones, also with real ones, you can only use white outside, because of the runner they use, they don't want it being stained.

They are the land of no, but let me tell you, they have their stuff together and are so picky, you will be glad they are picky for your wedding. Everything went off with out a hitch and everything was perfect.

Also, if you ge the updated cake, they give you the menu cards free. I fell in love with an eupgraded cake with ribbons, and we wound up getting the menus included in it. I found out 2 weeks before my wedding, that I could have had my menus if I would have pushed, but by then it was too late to make them.

Thanks for the advice, I will let you know what happens!

Another thing.. does anyone have pictures of the cake that they chose at their wedding from Villa Lombardi? How did you go about doing this.. Do they show you pictures and you pic out what you want?

They show you a book of the cakes and you pick from there. I picked an upgraded cake and it cost be an extra $250.

Has anyone gotten a response about the Dept. of Health problems? I was thinking about looking there for my reception until I heard about that.

Re: The Official Villa Lombardi's and PJCC Thread ( I have noticed some more recent brides!)

Someone had posted the information on where to search for restaurant health violations awhile ago

Here is the link to the report on PJCC:

http://www.co.suffolk.ny.us/health/CFRestaurant/violation.cfm?ID=1237

I'm sure there is a good reason. Lombardi's has such an excellent reputation.

Re: The Official Villa Lombardi's and PJCC Thread ( I have noticed some more recent brides!)

So anyone check out house vendors yet? Thus far I have seen Photos of the Heart (I know the daughter).

Funny story - My mom had minor foot surgery today at Mather Hospital and there were lots of people there talking about PJCC and Villa's. All good things and raves about the food!

The Board of Health issues were from 5/7/04 (after the re-opening on 5/1/04). The infractions were minor, but were still infractions.

Re: The Official Villa Lombardi's and PJCC Thread ( I have noticed some more recent brides!)

I have to chime in again on this health issue thing. Every Place has infractions that you eat at. I read the infractions list and to me they weren't all too serious. I am sure that the local diner or McDonalds has way more infractions. I have eaten at all of the Lombardi's places many times, and have a very sensitive stomach, NEVER, not once Have i gotten sick.
Just the kind of stuff that you are better off not knowing...otherise NO ONE would ever eat out!!!

JMHO- WHy are you harping on this?
