Re: The Official Villa Lombardi's and PJCC Thread
I am getting married at Villa Lombardi's- Actually in 2 months....
Anyway I go tonight to go over my food, cake....etc. I am excited.
You have to go to a showcase in order to sample the food. The food is SO GOOD there!!
I think they are very good there- but I will let you know if I hear of anything tonight!

Re: The Official Villa Lombardi's and PJCC Thread
You can taste the food at the showcases, which, IMO, is a good idea, because they have different centerpieces from diff. florists on each table and the room is dimly lit, so it gives you a pretty nice idea of what it would look like during your wedding....besides, the food is AMAZING! Where else can you get a full dinner+dessert for $10 a person????
And, not only did Jen come up to me to say HELLO...but she gave me her raffle tix, to boot! Thanks, JEN! Too bad I didn't win anything, though....
I know Villa's said NO to: rose petals, confetti, bubbles, dancing on a cloud/smoke machine...no tulle with lights hanging from the ceiling.....you can't make your own menus....I can't think of anything else....

The place is very nice looking. But I want to be sure for the money we are giving them it's not going to be 'no' to everything we might ask.

Re: The Official Villa Lombardi's and PJCC Thread
I think you can use the bubbles outside if you are having a ceremony there
The menu thing def does suck, cause i can do exactly what they do for soooo much less $2.50 each is a rip off!! Oh ETS: you can't bring in your own personalized napkins either..
You can use white silk rose petals, biodegradeable rice...
They are strict, but their attention to detail and service standards are well worth the $$$$.

Re: The Official Villa Lombardi's and PJCC Thread
I know someone who did the dance on the cloud there and I am using the same DJ and doing the Dance on a cloud. Tommy's Tunes is a house vendor there and I think they would have told me when I put the dance on a cloud in my package that it wasn't allowed . . .

I think they may have their own baker since they have Mama Lombardi's and all.... Not positive though. I need to ask about it also.

I am going to pick out my menu...anyone have any cocktail chafing dish selections or pasta station picks that they thought were good. I missed most of it at the open house cause we were late.

Re: The Official Villa Lombardi's and PJCC Thread
We just did our menu last night..... you guys are right. VL has a lot of rules.I was going to do chocolate and mints on the table and was told that they prefer I not because they don't want wrapper's on the floor. LOL!!!
To me it wasn't a big deal... I can always do something else... it was more the point of being told I can't do something. I still LOVE the place. I am really happy with everything else.
About the menu's.... They did not mention that you couldn't bring in an 'outside' menu.
We just got the plain menu they offered in the frame. Still looks nice.
They did tell us that they do not allow smoke machines - the DJ can use dry ice for the same effect.... so if any of you have this planned tell your DJ to contact VL management so that they can go over the 'dry ice rule'.

Re: The Official Villa Lombardi's and PJCC Thread
My wedding is at VL on October 1...Is there anything else that I should know now??I know about the smoke machines already... How far in advance did you go for linens and menu? How much are chair covers? What ice sculptures do the offer (not the ones that you have to pay extra for)? Did they get the chocolate fountain yet?
I can't think of anything else right now..Thanks ladies!! --Kelly

Re: The Official Villa Lombardi's and PJCC Thread
VL will call you to do your menu/cake/linens about 1 month before your wedding date. They will go over EVERYTHING with you. I was amazed at how organized they are.
I did not do chair covers... I'm sure if you call they can give you a price.
The ice sculpture is two doves - really pretty.
I'm not doing the chocolate fountain so I didn't ask....

Re: The Official Villa Lombardi's and PJCC Thread
definately make sure that they give you a date and time as to when you can make cancellations and still get a refund (ie. even though you make your final payment 10 days beforehand they tell you that if someone cancels you have another 5 days or so and still get a refund). Make them tell you that exact day and write it in the contract!also make sure to ask them what happens to the dinners for those people who don't show up. (ie. we had a couple that had to back out the day before and we knew we couldn't get a refund but i still expected to get the dinners to take home). to avoid hassles make sure you know up front what happens. i asked at the end of the night and they said i was supposed to tell them earlier when the kitchen was open! it all worked out fine in the end but to avoid any hassles ask them the procedure.

Also, if you did matchbooks like I did, they won't put them at the tabls. I had to leave them in a basket. They felt that if you left matches it would make people light up and there is no smoking.. blah blah blah. Needless to say, no one took home matchbooks and I have many to burn.
But if you are planning on saving money, don't buy matchbooks!!! Welcome New Vendors
