Re: this was said to me...what do you think?

I honestly disagree with you, I wouldn't allow my siblings kids to be there and not my FH's sibling's kids not. I would allow only the children of our siblings and cut it off at that. I don't think it's right that you FH's nephews are not invited.

Re: this was said to me...what do you think?

We are doin it the same way. The only children allowed are in the weding party. Even though our flower girl has a young sibling she is not invited. Fortunately for us everyone seems to be understanding so far.. Don't worry about it

Re: this was said to me...what do you think?

We are having my cousins daughter (who is the flower girl in the wedding) in the ceremony, but no children at the reception. I made this clear from the beginning and my cousin will have someone watch her at the hotel during the reception... My cousin was absolutely fine with it the 'no kids at the receptioln rule. Maybe you can not have any of the children attend the reception....

Re: this was said to me...what do you think?

I am in the same situation, i have now...so feelings arent hurt, 6 kids in the bridal party. Its out of hand, but i have no choice. I have three really close nieces and newphews, and he has two. With my dd, that makes 6! Errrr But no one else's kids are coming. I cant deal. If anyone dares to ask, im gonna eliminate everyone!

Re: this was said to me...what do you think?

I am having the same rule and I see nothing wrong with it. The children in the wedding party, will have the option of staying for the reception - I think that their parents will wind up bringing them to a babysitting though.

initially i agreed with you too, but she said she has a ton of nieces and nephews, which means not ALL of her siblings children are invited. so its not like only her siblings kids are invited and FH's are not.

Its your wedding, and if your FH agrees with you then thats that.

Re: this was said to me...what do you think?

There are tons of ways to argue both sides. IMO the only opion that matters is you and FH. If you can't afford it , don't want it, and you and FH agree on the decision then that is all that matters. I have learned in life that you will never please everyone all of the time. So do what is best for you and FH. Just remember It is your day!!

Re: this was said to me...what do you think?

I disagree....I don't think children are a disturbance and I never understood that ??? They are part of families. If I were your FSIL I would be very upset to be honest. Sorry, just being honest...at my wedding anybody can bring children, which I know not everybody will do and my nephew and my FH's niece and nephew are included in the wedding.

Re: this was said to me...what do you think?

Do what you want and what makes you happy. It is your wedding not your fsil's wedding. If you don't want children at your wedding then that is what happens do not let anyone control your wedding day or tell you you have to do this. I honestly think people should back off and let the bride and groom plan the wedding the rest of the people are just guest. The only people that you may think about listening to there ideas is whoever is helping you pay for the wedding otherwise do what you want and what makes you happy and remember the rest of the people are just going to be guests the day is about you and your fh not about them.

Depends on the type of affair. I don't think children belong certain places if they're under certain ages, and weddings are one of them.

I should also add that the youngest of our nieces and nephews is 6 so that makes it a little easier, its not like they're 2.

Re: this was said to me...what do you think?

I'm sorry to be contrary to everyone else's opinions, but I kinda agree with who said it to you (although her method may have been wrong). It is contradictory to have one set of kids at the wedding and not allow others. You either have a no kids rule, or you don't? It would really make some guests (and worse yet, close family members) feel slighted to have your sister's son be allowed, but not your FH's sister's son. I understand money being tight, but what could he cost? Another $35 for a kids meal? I just feel like there are things you cut, and things you don't. If you genuinely can't afford to have kids there, then your sister's son shouldn't be there either. JMO, but I kinda agree it's a double standard!

My cousin is going through the same thing for her wedding, and her nieces are flower girls, but they aren't going to the reception afterward b/c of the no kids rule. They hired a sitter afterward. Sorry I can't be more agreeable.

Re: this was said to me...what do you think?

I am having my little sis who is the flower girl at the wedding and i am also inviting my two younger bros since they are my immediate family but I am not inviting any other kids. We dont really have alot of kids in the family anyhow but if someone really wants to bring them then I guess its ok with me. Its not a strict rule

Re: this was said to me...what do you think?

Obviously this person doesn't understand the concept 'only kids in the wedding party' The same thing with my brothers girlfriend. Her son is coming because he is a ring bearer but my niece is not invited. If you extend that to everyone then you'll end up with a party full of kids.

Don't let her make you feel bad. Next time something is said then help her understand. It's not like EVERY child on your side of the fam is going to be there and FH's is not allowed.

I agree with what Chrissyv729. She is so right. Don't let her make you feel bad. If she doesn't like your rules or what you want with your wedding then she doesn't have to come. It is your wedding day and no one should be telling you what you should do or what is right and what is wrong. This day is about you and your fh.

I am having all my nieces and nephews at my wedding, unfortunately I have 13 nieces and nephews( ranging from 3-17) and only my one niece and his one nephew are in it. Its prob going to be a romper room but I think the kids and my sisters & brother would be crushed if they werent invited.

I agree with you I have 9 kids in mine and Fh family ages 2-15 and I would never not have them. I love them and they are a big part of us. However my sil will bring her mother as a back up if the younger kids get tired it's off they go.

Re: this was said to me...what do you think?

I think it's YOUR wedding and YOUR rule (which, imo, I think your rule is perfectly fine!)

People need to stop giving opinions where they're not needed. When that person has a wedding, they can have a 100-1 Child to Adult ratio for all I care!

Re: this was said to me...what do you think?

I would be annoyed because it seems that as soon as you mention 'wedding' everyone has an opinion. I flat out tell people when they offer an UNSOLICITED opinion, that I will expect their check to pay for the wedding shortly. If you ask for an opinion, it's a different story. It is your right to choose children or no children at the wedding.

That being said, we are having a 'no kids rule' There are no children in our wedding party and no children being invited.
