Re: To the 06'ers from the 05'ers
Definitely take everything in and the one regret I have from my wedding is that I didn't really get any CH food b/c I kept telling the bridal assistant I didn't need anything. When they ask if you want, make sure you get.And again, TAKE IT ALL IN!!!! It goes by SOOOOOO fast.

Re: To the 06'ers from the 05'ers
1. get a video, the memories are priceless2. wear a comfortable gown - if you think you will be uncomfortable for any reason - finad another or have them alter it. There were sequines under my arm that cut me!
3. Make sure you write down the pictures you want and where you want them - I missed a few good photo opportunities.
4. Waterproof mascara!
5. Designate a bridesmaid for make up duty (powder and lipstick especially)
6. Designate another bridesmaids for the children in your bridal party. The kids will need to know there is an adult figure available for any of their needs.
7. HAVE A GOOD TIME - forget the inevitable disasters that will happen, just smile and let someone else worry about it.
Good Luck and Congratulations!

Re: To the 06'ers from the 05'ers
This is a great thread... I wish the 04'ers had thought of this for us!!!!1) Get a video. We weren't going to and it was the best $$ we spent on the entire wedding.
2) STOP and LOOK AROUND. A few times during the day, while no one is talking to you and just take it all in. Know that it is all for YOU and that everyone is there for YOU.
3) At your reception, cut the lines for the chocolate fountain, the bar, the Viennese table... This is the one chance you will ever have to cut the line. Enjoy it!
4) Don't sweat the small stuff. It may not seem like it now, but most of the wedding headaches are small stuff.
Good luck and best wishes to all of you!

Re: To the 06'ers from the 05'ers
I totally disagree on re-applying lipstick. That is a big fat nuisence!!! The last thing I wanted to do that night was to keep reapplying lipstick. I used a lipstick that was like cement , except it didn't feel like cement. It was MAC long lipwear. AWESOME AWESOME AWESOME!!! My makeup girl used it on me and only when we first got to our bridal suite did I reapply. My lip color was red and I didn;t want my husband to have my lipstick on him whatso ever!!! I didn;t want my pictures to be ruined b/c both of our lips were red. That is why I made sure my lipstick wasn't going to go anywhere but stay on my lips. He never has a tint of red on his lips!!!!!You definitley want lipstick by the time you cut the cake, but you do not want to have to worry about re applying or asking DH every second if you have lipstick on. Just buy one that lasts all night long and you'll never have to worry.

Re: To the 06'ers from the 05'ers
Great advice so far ladies..I would add, make sure you have enough time for pictures. We had a three hour break between the end of the mass and the beginning of our CH, and it still wasn't enough time! (I LOVE PICTURES). Make sure you communicate exactly what you want from all vendors and don't be afraid to hold your ground. You are paying a lot of money for this one day, it will fly by and you want to make the most of it.
Never lose sight that this is the first day of a beautiful new life. Cherish that thought and share it with your DH. It will make for a beautiful wedding day.
Good luck!

Re: To the 06'ers from the 05'ers
I didn't have a DOC, never thought of having one. Fred and I made awesome DOC's.Just have fun with everything. You DON'T have to make 10 DYI's if you don't want to. You don't have to do any in fact. You're wedding will be just as beautiful!!!! Enjoy all the planning b/c it goes so fast.
Lots of love and Luck to all the beautiful 2006 brides to be!!!!

Re: To the 06'ers from the 05'ers
1. I definatly agree, get a video. WE just got the 'mini-edit', and it wasn't that expensive, and we loved watching it.2. Don't worry too much about what you are 'supposed' to do. Do what feels best and what you know is right.
3. Have fun! We had so much fun, but it went by way to quickly.
4. Bring slippers. I changed into mine right after the first dance and loved it. If you don't end up using them, you can just take them home.
Congrats to all '06 brides!

Re: To the 06'ers from the 05'ers
I agree with not drinking a lot. you can drink your face off any day you want to. you definitely want to be 100% sober for your wedding day. and also, drinking a lot will make you go to the bathroom.

I can not stress this enough. I am not a drinker, but occasionally I will have one or two. On my wedding day I took sips of wine. Only sips. I totally wanted to remember every moment of it and I wanted to be aware of everything. Even if you are 100% sober, time goes by sooo fast. So just imagine how fast it would go it you were buzzed. I didnt want to regret anything so I remained sober and took every bit of it in. You are only a natural high anyway. You feel like you are on top of the world. It's nothing that can actually be described, it's a feeling. But you guys are soon to find out!!!
