My wedding reception is at a hotel about 1/2 hour from the church. Since many guests from out of town will be at the hotel in the morning, they have to get to the church and back to the hotel again for the reception and to spend the night. Kind of a pain, I know, but I was at a few weddings where shuttles or bus services were provided and it was very easy for the guests not to have to worry about driving, etc... My quesiton is: Does anyone recommend a shuttle/van service, or have any ideas about renting a large custom bus for a few hours??? I have a few suggestions from my hotel but nothing I know I will use yet. I would rather get one large bus than 4 smaller vans...?
It is quite possible that you feel that they are imposing a situation on you that you are not ready to handle, but that is proably b/c they didn't handle it correctly. had they come to you and spoken about it correctly and in a non-assuming manner, I am sure you would not be feeling the way you are.
I really hope this works out for you. It seems that this situation may put up a wall between you and your future in-laws for all the wrong reasons. Communication is a skill that not many people understand or have.

We had a full size Coach bus for our New Year's Eve wedding and everyone loved it. If you'd like more information, let me know and I can give you an idea of how much it cost and who we contacted. Best of Luck!!
I confronted my mother-in-law to be...confronted my fiance and said "small" or nothing....after much bickering and arguing...we're having a fairly small brunch at the Three Village Inn..they do almost everything for you....honestly if they didn't...I'd just elope...if you all let this five hour event make you sick...you won't have the strength to survive the first battle over whose house you are going to spend the holidays at.....Take your vitamins......and good luck...JessicaE

A little off the beaten path...I think the Museums at Stony Brook might let you reserve their catering facilities for a nominal fee. You'd have to hire a caterer. I'd suggest Elegant Eating. Very good food though order for more than your amount. the servings are not typically generous
I wish you all the best (its not easy, i know). Let me know how you make out. :)
