YOU POOR DEAR! I've had that SAME exact thing.. cellulitis that started in my earlobe- went into the side of my face and down my neck- my ear got GIGANTIC and it hurt if a piece of hair landed on it... We caught it b/f I had to get the IV- but the doc drew a line on my neck and said if the swelling went past the line I had to go to the hospital.

It is SOOOOOO painful!

I'm lying in bed now on my laptop - I'm feeling much better -they had me on morphine and delaudid (sp?) for pain - i'm only taking a drug now starts with an N (prescription version of Alieve) for the inflamation and light pain-

The cellulitis is what gave me the pain. The morphine wasn't strong enough to just give it an edge so they gave me delaudid - and it work a little but they still couldn't touch my whole right side of my head (nor could I turn my head at all) I NEVER thought I would say an ear infection could be SO painful

They did cat scans because they thought it went to the bone or that it was a deep tissue neck infection.

My present concern is getting my hearing back I can barely hear out of my right ear - they said that it was because I had the wick in but it fell out this morning and I STILL can barely hear - so I am scared about that - both my mothers parents were deaf (one born deaf the other became deaf at age 3 or 4) so although that won't happen I am scared that it will have cost me some hearing

I don't want to tell you what came out when the whole mess combusted...

I think your hearing should come back- what did they say about it?

Honestly I won't know until I see the ENT tomorrow - It was too swollen to even look into the ear canal until now - then when they discharged me I had a wick in my ear so I had to wait -

As far as the hearing they simply don't know - it will depend on IF and the amount of scarring on the ear drum - they hope it will not be noticible if it happens - BUT they also told me I would hear perfectly when the wick came out so we shall see

You poor thing!!
Im glad you're home

I used to have cellulitis as a child chronically. They say it will come back (I have this funny mutation in my DNA strand.. causes me problems) I HATED the pain.. agh god.. the pain. It felt like forever in misery.

You poor thing!
