I think it's a good thing you didn't find a dress you love right away! This is just my opinion, but I think it's good to try on as many dresses as possible, even dresses you think you'll never wear. Dresses look so different on than on the hanger. I ended up getting almost the opposite of what I thought I wanted after trying on EASILY 30 dresses.I know it can get frustrating, but try to have fun with it. How often do you get to try on all these expensive gowns!

You really need to check out Lillette's in Baldwin and make an appointment with Pat there. She is great about finding what will look good on your body type.
I HATED dress shopping, but loved shopping there - b/c I had someone bringing me dresses that would look good on me.
Just a suggestion - I'm SURE you'll find a dress you love.![]()
Thats where I was going to try next. I think I really just need help figuring out what' best on me. Thanks for the hug hehe

I found myself just looking at what they brought me and saying 'no, no, no' before even trying it on. I said I would be opened minded and look at me.... ok, that'll be a new rule for me next time.
And true, I didn't really think of it as my really only opportunity to try on expensive gowns for fun! Hey, that might be a lil motivation or perk I guess.

OK my first day of dress shopping for myself! I'm going to Bridal Reflections in Massapequa and am a lil nervous/excited! So, from the post's i've been reading, I've concluded to bring my own strapless bra and booty shorts undies. I'm just really hoping I enjoy this cuz I HATE shopping period. Wish me luck! I'll try to sneak pics![]()
UPDATE:
First, they didn't let me take picslittle upset and I couldn't even sneak one....But the girl that helped me was really nice and very patient with me so no complaints on the store itself.
Other than that..... ugh.... kind of what I expected... Like I said before, I hate hate hate shopping. Although it wasn't too bad, I only found one dress i really liked, not really love but only one to put on my 'save to remember later' list. It was Maggie's Vienna.
I don't know whats wrong with me. I think I'm too concious of the fact that I'm short and that not everything will look right on me. That being said I found something wrong most of the dresses I tried on. I didn't like the lace or too plain or I dunno.... I'm too picky. I'm kinda dreading my next shopping stop which I haven't even made an appointment for yet anywhere. I know Its only my first day but I'm already feeling down about dress shopping and that I'm putting my mom and sister through hell when they come with me....
I need some motivation or something![]()
ETA: Sorry so long, i needed to vent a little....![]()
i think this is one of the hardest part of wedding planning. you shoud have every right to be picky, and definitely don't settle for anything because you're going to end up hating it later on. take your time with the shopping. make it a fun experience. don't go into every store thinking that today you're going to leave with your dress. be open-minded about different styles and other people's suggestions. you look petite like me, i'm only 5'2' on a good day. try to stay away from skirts that really flare out on the bottom. i saw some of your dress ideas in your profile and some of them had the mermaid skirt in the bottom that seems to swallow me whole. don't worry, you'll find something soon. good luck and enjoy!

Yes, you are totally right. The dresses I wanted turned out to 'swallow me whole' as you say. I think I need to do a bit more research on what exactly suits my body type. And yes, I'm only 5' but add some heels and i'll still be short lol

Don't force it or have expectations because you will only come home disappointed. Bring a few people with you and try on things that you would have never even looked at. Sometimes a different eye can be very helpful. And trust me, I didn't think this really happened, but when you find the one, you just KNOW!!!
