We're getting married on a Vineyard, and not in church. My old Italian Aunts will DEFINITELY remember this. My favors aren't typical either. My cousins all had some kind of bowl, or vase, or ash tray. We're having little bottles of wine.

Well, my family ( from Boston) is going to be blown away by the cocktail hour. In Boston, you order hors derves by the person, so you decide on either 7 or 8 per person, or whatever you want. People only pass around the hors derves on trays and there are no stations like at most NY weddings. My guests are going to think its the whole meal!

I think my OOT guests from MD will feel the same way about the cocktail hour. They really do go all out in LI. Also, we are having a full 18-piece big band (thanks to my FI's dad).

We are having trumpeteers at church and at the reception.
We're also having a live percussionist along with our DJ.

My fiance's family is Italian, they're more laid back, unlike my Latin family that dances all night...

The chocolate fountain (Dad says white chocolate, FH says milk chcocolate!)

Our interfaith wedding. So far every wedding our families have been to was either strictly Catholic or strictly Jewish. We're incorporating traditions from both sides.

The fact that there will be no cheesiness!!! (group dancing, conga line, removal of garter and bouquet toss, etc)

we really want a chocolate fountain. and since chris works for the lirr and there is a train station right by our hall...we may jump on the trian and take a few pics..but not sure about that.

I'm with Jill on this one.. my family has been to tons of weddings, but NONE of our guests will have ever been to Carlyle on the Green before. I am very excited because it is so different from all the other places we've been to for weddings..

My FI's family and friends are all british and live in the UK - so to see a NY style wedding overlooking the water will be magnificent to them (he is from birmingham, uk 2 hours from the ocean).

I think my family will find it different that all the british woman will be wearing funky hats/feather thingy ma bobs in their hair - as all woman where this type of thing during the ceremony in England.

i think the location will stand out the most. our guests will have the run of the aquarium, indoors and out. makes for a great sea theme. the buffet line goes through the shark tank cave! ~lacey

What a great thread!!!

The hand cermony at the reception, our yacht arrival, our 3 peice jazz enameble at the CH, Votive place cards, the frank sinatra singer during the reception, and we are going to have a wedding photoalbum that our DOC coordinator will take and later on in the evening all that have their pics taken will write something under their photo

I also think that we may have some pretty glass vases that are labled: Wedding advise and have our guests write some wedding advise to the new couple

I am also trying to hire some friends of my brother to shoot off fire works at the pier!

Memorial Montage for our mothers (FH & I)
Dove Release, and our Dj pakcage comes with two Percussion Players (Sax & Congas-{spanish}) which will be great for the spanish music we are gonna play,

Im having a live bongo player at my wedding. Its not very traditional for an Italian wedding, but it will definately get the croud on its feet!!!

I haven't told ANYONE but we're having all my neices and nephews that aren't in the bridal party (3 are in, 10 are not in it) be paige bearers. They will be given a silver bell before the wedding. Right before I walk in they will walk down the aisle ringing their bells saying (or knowing them, screaming) the bride is coming, the bride is coming!

For us I think it will be the Yacht arrival and the Steel Drum Band during Cocktail Hour. I cant wait.
