Me too!

Also, our tropical theme. FH will be sporting a simple tan suit (no tie) and nice sandals, we'll use lots of orchids and shells and beach theme favors/cake, etc.


My best friend is doing a beach theme too! She is getting married 6/16/07.

Hmmm...good question! I'm going with:

String Quartet at ceremony and CH.
DIY touches - petal cones, menus, programs, votive placecards (hopefully). Although they seem so 'common' to us, most of my guests (but about 4) have never been on this website!

We're having bagpipers come to the reception. I know it's been done by people before but never at any of our friends/family weddings so it should be nice.

We've been to a few weddings this year that there wasn't one thing special that I can remember at them other than the band and the crowd. We're having one of the bands and most of the crowd so it should be just as fun as well!

Anniversary dance (my aunt & uncle were married on the same date as our wedding date)
our invitations are pretty different than traditional ones.

My teacher from high school (dear friend, mentor, 2nd mom) will be our 'officiant'. We are very excited!

I haven't told ANYONE but we're having all my neices and nephews that aren't in the bridal party (3 are in, 10 are not in it) be paige bearers. They will be given a silver bell before the wedding. Right before I walk in they will walk down the aisle ringing their bells saying (or knowing them, screaming) the bride is coming, the bride is coming!


That's so cute!!!

We're getting married on April Fools Day. Let's just say we're going to have some fun with our guests.

Seriously though, my family is not into weddings (they typically elope or do super small ceremonies) so the wedding itself will stand out.

Oh yeah, the FULL OPEN BAR That is unheard of by my family (not from NY).

My FFIL will be performing the ceremony and we will have the ceremony specifically made to fit us...being that we are having an interfaith marriage.

Defintely the votive placecards, the yacht arrival...even the recpetion hall (cause many of family and friends haven't been there!) I migth also say my dress..b/c t is really different!

I think the gardens of the Swan Club and hopefully all of the little touches that we have been or I have been working on for a year and a half will not go un noticed!

Hmm.. votive placecards and also because FH is really techy we will give guests the option to text message us during the reception (everything will be pre-screened by the MC, DJ before it pops up) and it will pop up on a plasma screen. Also we will have various kinds of candies from the countries our parents are from as favors.

Parts of the ceremony will be in Ukrainian or we will be using Ukrainian traditions such as the crowns....I dont think anyone will forget that the service was party in another language because they will be thinking 'what the heck are they saying'. It will all be explained in the program

Great question, Janie!!!

I'm not really sure! I don't think that anyone in my family has seen the slipper baskets done so I think that'll prob be our 'special' thing.

But it could also be the teeny tiny bride and the giant groom that people remember!!


Thats true for me too...I'm 5ft hes 6' 3', just quite a difference!!!!
