What to do the after a day wedding

Our wedding ends at 5:30pm on a Saturday. Our flight for our honeymoon leaves JFK at 7AM the next morning. My fiance does not want to spend a lot of time with the family afterwards. We will most likely stay in a hotel near the airport. What can we do?

I'm off to start looking at florists and I was wondering if anyone can tell me what is a reasonable price range for flowers should be. I have no clue what a good price range is. I have a HUGE wedding party (10 girls & ushers) & I don't know what to expect. I'm going to need bouquets, centerpieces & flowers for the Church. Any help would be great!!

Thanks! :-)

What to do the after a day wedding

Hi Brenda,

When I first started planning my wedding I had the same concern as you. But as the wedding gets closer I am really looking forward to that quite time together. Based on the information that you have provided here on the board I think that your wedding is going to be approx. the same time as mine. I am getting married at 10am on 2/26/2000 (only 58 days away). Since the wedding is at 10am the photographer is going to arrive at my house at 7:30am. From this you can just imagine what time hair and makeup is going to be. Actually, I am starting to wonder why I am going to sleep at all!! I will be getting in late from the rehearsal diner the night before the wedding plus all of the last minute running around that I will be doing the week of the wedding. The way I see it, I will be so tired by the time the wedding is over that I will be glad to just cuddle up with my new husband and go to sleep!! My Mom is having some out of town guest drop by the house after the wedding so we might make a guest appearance there (15 min tops) but I doubt that we even do that. Our flight is not until 3pm the next day so we have a late check out, and I am confident that we will need an alarm to wake us up that day. I hope that this helps you out!! Enjoy those first few hours of marriage together and reflect on the wonderful event that has just taken place!! Best of Luck

What to do the after a day wedding

Brenda-

I think you should just check into a nice hotel for the night, order room service and cuddle and reminisce (can't spell?) about your wedding day. Don't take any calls and just be with each other. It will probably be good because you will have time to rest before going on the plane to your honeymoon. I know alot of people whose wedding ended at 12:30 am and have to fly on a 6am flight. ROUGH!! They end up spending the first day and night of their honeymoon dead asleep :)

My wedding is on a Saturday, but since my fiance has to finish school the week after that we cannot go on our honeymoon until a week after our wedding (not ideal, but oh well). But I will at least make the rest of the weekend special by staying at a nice hotel WITH THE PHONE OFF AND NO CALLS ACCEPTED :). Then strange as it sounds I will have to go back to work on Tuesday (I will definately take Monday off) and then go on a nice 2-week honeymoon the week after.
