Top choices would be:
Temple Chaverim (my final choice, see my review)
Temple Beth Shalom
Lombardis on the Sound
Milleridge Cottage
Carltun
Woodlands


Places that I ruled out right away-- Nothing terrible happened, but they were not for me, for one reason or another:
North Ritz Club
Windows on the Lake
Chateau La Mer
Watermill
Crescent Club
DeSeversky


Places that were unexpectedly nice (I didn't think I'd be impressed but I was):
Larkfield Manor
East Wind

I dont think it is necessarily fair to rate a place we have not been to.... BUT based on what I know about the halls-

MY favorite- East wind estate

I think watermill, giorgios, and hamlet willow creek are very nice too

from what i hear but i have NO experience with... is that Lands end, atlantica, flowerfields, and crescent beach club (i think it is called) are all lovely places to have a wedding

I Highly Recommend Giorgio's.

They get above 10 Rating!

When I was looking for my catering hall I looked at.. at least 10 locations and nothing compared to Giorgio's.

The thing I was looking for in a hall was windows and chandeliers and gardens.

Giorgio's definently has all of that. SOoooooo beautiful. Most halls have one wall of windows and like one chandelier. Giorgio's has chandeliers Everywhere!! It is just breathetaking.

You have 3 Locations to take pictures at Giorgio's. At their Gardens, on the Golf Course and the LI Sound.

George Jr. and Sr. are great and so nice and helpful.

Giorgio's is having a Bridal Showcase the last sunday in February the 26th, that is the best time to taste their delicious food and if you can't make that.. then you can definently try their food at their Sunday Brunch's.

So if you are deciding where to have your wedding.... definently have Giorgio's in mind.

I agree...it's definitely a beatutiful place, but I'm biased. I also feel you get so much for your money. The quality of food, service and atmosphere is amazing. You should try going to brunch there, they offer it on Sunday mornings.

I agree. There is no real point in rating halls because giving a hall a low score, with an added bit about why it gets a low score, will only make the person who chose that hall feel like sh&t and worry that people won't like it when her wedding is there. I don't think any good can come of this. I mean, it's nice to hear the good things, but I wouldn't want to hear someone's negative opinion (even if it was something minor) about my hall. I know we're all 'big girls' but still, what's the point here? Especially considering we all have such different taste.

I dont know why people get their feelings hurt its just an opinion. everybody has different taste, if this wasnt the case than everyone would want to do their wedding at the same place... for the ppl who turned down Leonards in august, just made it easier for me to book!!

Here's my review of weddings I went to:
Leonards 10-- is that being biased!!
Jericho Terrace: 10 Loved it (my sisters wedding)
VIP Country Club: 10++ awesome food and atmosphere, a little far (New Rochelle)

And for the girls who didnt like Leonards or it wasnt for them, I dont hold it against you. There were halls I saw that weren't for me, doesnt make them bad places to get married!!
I say girls lighten up..

I agree. We all have to realize that opinions are just that---what someone else thinks of a hall or anything else for that matter. I love my hall...but I wouldn't be hurt or offended if someone posted that they thought it stunk!!

I agree with the other girls, we're grown ups that need to learn how to Handle criticism, and realize that not everyone on here is not going to like everything that you like. If your afraid that someone is going to say something that will upset you about your hall, then don't read the post.

Anyway.....
I love the Bayview House at Capitan Bill's, it was the first place we looked at, and nothing else came close to measuring up. I was looking for something on the water, that held one wedding at a time, and did not have a lot of marble and gold chandeliers. This is my taste, if you like that stuff, then the Bayview house is not for you.

East Wind is beautiful, I've been at two weddings at the Estate, one was my sisters and I was the MOH. Everyone there is very helpful, the room is really nice, and the food was excellent. I don't have anything bad to say about East Wind.

I have never been to a wedding at CLM, but have heard it's very nice. It had the water view that I was looking for, but I spent most of my weekends during High School hanging out at the docks watching peoples weddings at CLM.

Timber Point is nice, I was at a wedding there this summer. The food was good, the room was okay, I wouldn't say it was my favorite place, but it's not the worst.

I went to two proms at chateau Briand, so that was out.

We looked at Lands End, it was very nice, but out of our price range. Way out.

We went to one of the Hamlets, it bothered me from the start that you have to pass though a gate. I didn't' want my guests stuck outside waiting to get let in.

Merrywood Cottage sounded really nice, but you have to walk between buildings to get from the CH to the reception. My parent went to a wedding their and it was pouring rain and they got soaked.

I am also biased...I love my choice... which is The Miller Place Inn...I know several women who were married there and also know people who have been guests...nothing but great things to say...I am excited about it!!...it's also a sentimental choice...it's not always about the glitz and glamor...

I've attended a wedding recently at The Vineyard Caterer...it was also excellent...if we didn't pick MPI we would have either gone there on the PJ Country Club...

Like everyone else, I am being bias....I love Jericho Terrace since it's my hall but I also LOVED Chateau Briand. My brother had his reception there and it was amazing. The coolest things were having the CH in the restaurant part of the hall. It was HUGE and everyone had a seat. Also, I really was impressed with how we were treated while the Bridal party took pictures in the studio. They provided us with drinks (both alcoholic and non), and food to pick on. That was awesome! The bridal attendants were so helpful and very sweet girls. I also have to add one more thing I loved, the room 'Saturnia' has two bars, one on each side of the room!!! Bonus!! Lol.

That's all well and good but when a girl comes on here and reads nothing but low ratings on here about her hall, you tell me how she should feel. You are not talking about some minor insignificant detail about a person's wedding you are talking about their hall. A major part of their wedding. Not everyone can afford to go the best places on Island. Yes, we should all be able to handle criticism, but learn early on that brides on here can be very sensitive to topics like this.

I only wanted a place that was by the water with a beach feel- I fell in love with Crescent Beach Club right away.

I liked the room at Carltun on the Sound, but didnt like that the only way to do an outdoor ceremony was right by the parking lot.

I like Riviera too, but it wasnt really beachy- it was really pretty with the fireplaces, but it was a more medieval- fairy tale feel

Chateau La Mer was also pretty, but had no elevator for my grandma

Chateau La Mer is definitely wheel chair accessible, unless you use the upstairs room.

I spent alot of time getting stressed out about my wedding due to threads like this. I do not think I was happy about my choice until the day of my wedding. it is not being overly sensitive, wedding planning can be so stressful the last thing you want to hear is bashing. No harm may be meant but it does happen. I do think that everyone needs to realize that what is right for one may not be right for someone else. Opinions are okay but remember just dont bash a place because and I am speaking from experience it will stick in the brides head.

We went to the Rivera also. It didn't have the open airy beachy feel we were looking for. Anyone one I know that has liked the Rivera, did not like the Bayview House. It's all a matter of taste.

I liked the upstairs room- and the other problem was i wanted to do my ceremony there and if the weather was bad - the ceremony would have to be downstairs- again no elevator. I was told that Lou and his guys could put my grandmother in a chair and carry her up the steps- that was not acceptable to me
