yes, the downstairs ceremony would be accessible, but not the upstairs.

Honestly, I thought everything had to be wheel chair accessible?

My brother just got married this weekend at the Milleridge Cottage and it was AMAZING. The food was great the service was outstanding and everyone had an awesome time.

Milleridge Carriage House-8-although it was one of the best weddings I have ever been to;
Fox Hollow-10-everything was just amazing.
Huntington Town House-4-not my taste, the food was not that good.
Russo's on the Bay-10-although not one of the best weddings I've ever been to.
Swan Club-5-not my taste, food was average.
Terrace on the Park-6-food was not that great.

I saw the following:

Westchester NY:
Greentree Country Club: love that it overlooks the long island sound, but i didn't like the decor of the 2 ballrooms available. Wasn't my style.

Surf Club: It's great that it has it's own private beach, but it's a small beach and they didn't maintain it too well, at least not when we went to see it. The huge chandelier and big waterstain in the foyer ceiling was also abit of a turnoff....

Glen Island Harbour Club: it's new and very nicely decorated if you like a more modern style. the ceremony room is also very nice as it overlooks the long island sound but it was immediatley off my list when the BM told us we had to use their inhouse florist. That's a huge no no. We do not want to be restricted to using a house vendor since they get the kickback and we get the high cost! Kinda selfish of them if you ask me... They also have only 3 choice of entree, chick beef or salmon. Boring.

New Jersey:
Brownstone: Lovely place but not our style. Only 3 choice of entree, neighborhood isn't that great.

Highlawn Pavilion: Beautiful view of NYC 'cus of it's cliff location. Great food as well. But they are very pricey for what you get and and the dance floor is kinda off in an awkward place.

The Manor: lovely grounds and nice interior but they have as many as 3-4 weddings at a time! And though you won't know it unless you leave your reception room, the choice of 3 basic entree wasn't to our liking.

Mayfair Farms: lovely grounds which you can have access to if you opt for the basement ballroom. But the low ceiling of that room and the green paint/wallpaper wasnt to our liking. They also can have 3 weddings at a time.

Madison Hotel: picture in the magazine look great, but it has no outdoor space whatsoever and the green cloth wallpaper of the conversatory room wasn't to our liking... guests would also have to go through the long winding hallway with the low ceiling to get to both ballrooms. Pricey for what you get.

Long Island:
Westbury Manor: Love this location because we like the warm, woodsy look. Also, our ballroom overlooks the garden so guests can step out for a smoke or kids can go run around the grounds. The place is also well-known for its food. 7 choices of entree is also super!

I'm going to list a few halls that i have been to for weddings (the ones that I have liked)

North Ritz Club--totally biased on this once since it is my hall I have been to a wedding here as well. One wedding at a time, very classy, food is different--cocktail hour is amazing. Everyone has been very helpful thus far.

Carlyle on the Green- absolutely amazing!! Future brother and sister-in-law got married here last summer. It was so incredibly beautiful, the ballroom is gorgeous, food and service were excellent. So classy!

Miller Place Inn--very nice for a smaller wedding. When I was there the service and food were great.

Jericho Terrace- I'm prefer one wedding at a time, however Jericho Terrace's food and service were great!! All the weddings that i have been to here have been a blast!!!

Cheateau LeMer--Just attended a wedding here and was so impressed by the service!! The view is awesome.

North Ritz Club
Flowerfield
Milleridge Inn (Absolutely the most beautifuly christmas wedding I've been to)
Oheka Castle


I just like places where it's only one wedding at a time. I've been to other places where there are multiple functions and I always feel like it's a three ring circus with the valet and the bathrooms and the conglomeration of guests standing outside smoking. That's just me though.

Top places I looked at or been to a wedding at that I loved
Hamlet Hauppauge A+++ Of course my vendor, but I got nothing but raves from guests and everything was so wonderful!!!
Lands End A++ Expensive but beautiful, my cousin had her wedding there, and I loved everything.
The Vinyeards Very nice!!! The only problem was the dance floor was a little to small. The food was really good!!
Places I liked when looking for a hall
East Wind Estate- Very nice!!! I also liked the country gardens. I wasn't crazy about the main building, just my opinion. I didn't pick East Wind because of the distance.
The Hamlet in Commack was very pretty but a bit pricey.
The Hamlet in Mount sinai is suppose to be great. My cousin works there and said that it is really nice.
Lombardies on the Sound- Over my budget, but really nice!!!
Watermill, very nice but I wanted one wedding at a time.
Flowerfield-Very nice, but tooo expensive!!
Chateau La Mer- Went to the LI Wedding Anniversary party. A really nice place and the food was really good. Especially the dessert.

Woodbury Country Club (I'm biased) - beautiful grounds, wonderful staff, good food. I couldn't be happier!

Milleridge Inn - beautiful, food was good, staff was attentive.

Miller Place Inn - a little small, but only 1 wedding a time, food was good, dance floor was a little small for 175 people.

John Anthony's on the Water - very pretty, good food, love the downstairs room. Lots of food at cocktail hour, great views of the water.

Chateau Le'Mer - beautiful, bright and cheery, looks brand new. Nice staff, food was good. Nice big rooms.

My second choice ( to the Hamlet Wind Watch) was Majestic Gardens... I really liked the place but it was too expensive and a little to big for my scale wedding...

I am having a wedding on May 5th and HAVEN'T EVEN BOOKED A HALL! Yikes!

We may wind up doing a big tent if I can't find anything - and Thatched Cottage (of the amazing food but less amazing look) does off premises catering!

Just thought I would throw that out there for anyone considering an at home affair. :)

BEAUTY IS IN THE EYE OF THE BEHOLDER. WHAT I LIKE ABOUT A PLACE ANOTHER BRIDE MY HATE. WHAT I DON'T LIKE ANOTHER BRIDE WILL LOVE. I THINK I'LL KEEP MY OPINION TO MYSELF ON THIS ONE. ALL OF US GIRLS WILL HAVE WEDDINGS TO BE REMEMBERED AT THE HALL OF OUR CHOICE. GOOD LUCK TO EVERYONE!

Another reason to look at could be... what made you not have your wedding at a particular place...
I loved East Wind, but two of my cousins recently got married there.
I loved the Martha Clara vineyard, but it was out of my price range.
I loved Atlantica, could have gotten married there if I was willing to get married in October on a Sunday (too many people that I know have to work on Monday).
The Old Field club had an outside area for my reception that seemed a little small.
A friend is getting married soon at Lombardi's on the sound, didn't want to have my wedding there before them.

Please note - each person has different taste, so what I may like (lots of wood, no crystal), someone else may dislike. I am reviewing just the decor because I have not been to any weddings in NY except my own

Grand Prospect Hall (Brooklyn) – Not our style – was right across the street from the highway and place seemed a bit run down and dark and musty

Douglaston Manor (Queens) – Also seemed a bit run down and too 80’s for me with all the mirrors

Terrace on the Park (Queens) – loved the rooms but didn’t like the 80s feel lobby with all the mirrors and when we visited in 2005 there were no pretty grounds

Fountainhead (Westchester) – Loved the ceremony area and the pinpoint lighting in the reception rooms but the decor was not my style

Crest Hollow Country Club (Nassau) – beautiful but too much brass for my taste

Carlton on the Sound (Nassau) – did not like that the cocktail area was downstairs and that when you looked out the window in the reception room, you saw the parking lot

Westbury Manor (Nassau) – perfect for me – loved the wood and homey feel. The drawback is that WM holds two weddings at a time, but the price, amount of food, gorgeous grounds, and beauty of the rooms sold it for me
