My Feb 6 review at the Fox Hollow
My Review to my 2/6/04First of All, many many thanks to all of my LI Gals and to Ron and Liz for creating this website. I have met some wonderful friends virtually and in person! You were all there for me from the beginning til the very end. All of you made the planning a lot of fun and less stressful! As most of you might know, I moved here from TX about 4 years ago and the weddings here in NY are so different from Tx weddings. I was clueless on where to begin and I am very grateful to all of you who gave your feedback and advice!! Thanks again! ON to the review……
I am so happy our wedding did not turn out the way my day began. (you might have read on a previous post) It was raining..but it wasn’t the rain that bothered me. My car broke down and I almost missed my appts., marriage license was left in my broken down car, my girlfriend went to pick up my bm’s dresses and my dress from the seamstress who pressed them to find out that my friend only brought the bm’s dresses, and my dad’s measurements and color of shirt for the tux was all wrong! Not to mention that because my car broke down, time was pressing!!!
When looking back, Our ceremony and wedding was so beautiful!! Received a lot of compliments that it was such a beautiful wedding.
Inn at Fox Hollow: A++++
The Hotel was so beautiful and it was very convenient to the Fox Hollow. I got ready at the Inn and they allowed me to check in very early. The breakfast the next morning was out of this world!! It was so delicious!
Ceremony at the Fox Hollow (Décor) A+++++++:
They did an amazing job with the Huppah, flowers, and runner! The matre’d did a fabulous job organizing the processional and recessional. The room was very cozy.
Cantor Jeffrey Forman and Deacon Edward BilliaA+++++++++:
The performed a beautiful ceremony! They were very open on what we wanted to incoroporate in our interfaith wedding. They have done weddings previously and they make an amazing duo. I was such in an emotional roller coaster with them. One moment I was crying, and the next laughing. Anyone who is having an interfaith Judea/Catholic I totally recommend them. They also had my guests crying and laughing. I adore them! If you want a copy of my program, you can FM.
Fox Hollow: A++++++++++++ They did an amazing job with the food, décor and service!!! Top Notch Service!! It definitely reflected our taste! Our guests kept mentioning that there was so much food at the cocktail hour and dinner and that it was soo delicious!!! A lot of our guest thought the cocktail hour was the reception food because there was so much of it! The only thing that I noticed after the fact is that I didn’t see enough waiters walking around with hot hordeuvs(spel?) I don’t think my guests even noticed. Other than that, I did not have one complaint! AS for the matre’d and bridal attendant, they did a fabulous job in making sure we were completely satisfied and happy. My bridal attendant made sure I always had my glass full. My DH’s button fell off his coat and the Matre d and bridal attendant immediately started sewing. Someone (one my family members by accident) took my panty hose. No one fessed up but, Fox Hollow had an extra pair. As for the bridal suite, it was so beautiful and cozy! There was a fireplace and it was fully supplied with beverages and appetizers. Brides if you are getting married there make sure you get the bridal suite with the fireplace (if you are getting married in the winter). There was another wedding going on but I didn’t see her at all the whole night. Everyone was raving about the dinner. We had the potatoe crusted fish, filet mignon and Chicken francese. Everyone raved about the chocolate mouse dessert. I did have one complaint about the Cake( from me) I did not care for the taste. It looked beautiful but Very dry. The cake gets a C.
Jack and Rose A
Jack did a great job with all of my flowers especially the bo-k’s, centerpieces, cake and the dais. They were so beautiful!!
J acqueling Nicole (JN) A++++++++:
She is such a sweet heart! She did my fmil, my mom, and my makeup (airbrushed) She did an amazing job with all of us. Our makeup stayed on all night! She made us all beautiful!! I totally recommend Jacqueline and the airbrush. It felt so light!! She even covered up some scars. Amazing! I had so many compliments.
Phil (you can FM and I will give you his info)- A+++++
After my original hairdresser backed out, with less than a month away from my wedding and Phil said “yes” and he did an amazing job with my hair! I had so many compliments!
Duet- A++ (until I receive my pics)
We had 2 photographers and a videographer. They were there on time and started while I was getting dress. I am looking forward to seeing the proofs and the video!!
Body Heat: A+++++++++++++++++++++ Okay, I am still getting compliments about this band!!! They were amazing!!! They played every style of music and they played every song well! Those of you who booked them you will not be disappointed! I had several guests get their business card at the end of the night. Some people even mentioned that they felt like they were at a concert. Some of my guest mentioned that this was the best wedding they have been to because Everyone was having a good time and I know the music had a lot to do with it. I was worried that I sat friends and family near the band….but, they all loved it!!! Body Heat even learned some new songs for us “Hey Ya” from Outkast and “It’s my Life” No Doubt.
Men’s Wearhouse Tuxedos: B
The reason I ordered my Tuxes from Men’s Wearhouse was because ½ of the groomsmen were out of state and it was very convenient for the grooms to send their measurements from Mens Wearhouse through their local stores so that they can send the measurements. However, my dad’s tux was all wrong!! I blame it on the TX store. However, the New York store was able to ship the new Tux within 24 hours. I was nervous because it was still 3 hours before our ceremony and he still did not have his. Unnecessary stress!! Arghhh!!
RK Bridal: A+++++++++
I have seen mixed reviews, but I had the best service at their store. The saleswoman was so sweet! She was a doll!!! I ordered my dress on August 1 2003 and received my dress October 15, 2003. By the way, it's a Maggie-'Yvette'
Seamstress-Gabby A+++++++++
She is in Huntington and works out of her home. She is a dress maker and I was very happy with my dress alterations!! Her prices are very reasonable!!
Calligrapher- A+++
Rebecca from Favorite Things did a fabulous job on my envelopes!! Everyone thought that it was hand calligraphy but, it was on the PC. Of course, I waited to the last minute
to call her. But, she was able to print them up quickly. I would totally recommend going to her.
( I ordered my invites through a friend of the family and I was her last Order before she called it quits. I abolutely loved my invites!)
Hawaii A++++++
Do a search on the Hawaii thread and you will find what I wrote up about Hawaii
Advice: Try not to procrastinate. I did and the last week before the wedding I was pulling my hair out. If it becomes too much to handle, let your friends and family help out. That is what I ended up doing towards the end. Also, I forgot to give the list to the photographers as to which photos I wanted him to take. I just hope and pray that everything I wanted will be in the proofs. Enjoy yourself at the wedding and take everything in! We did!
I am off to the NW thread and the TTC thread!!!
