A while back I had posted about Interfaith help! You had recommended the Historical Chapel in Woodbury. So my FH and I went there today and put a deposit down for Dec. 13, 2002 (it's so cute - you were right). I was given your card as a clergy member. I have a question for you though. I do not have my heart set on having a rabbi present at the ceremony (I'm Jewish and my FH is Protestant), but I am confused about Christian representation (and my FH really is no help in the department). Can a reverend marry an interfaith couple without religious aspects in the ceremony. Or is it possible to tailor the ceremony to represent BOTH religions, with a little of each tradition, when only a reverend is marrying us? I know I sound naive, and I apologize for that, but I want to make sure that we are both represented equally on our special day (plus it would really hurt my mother if it was a purely 'Christian' wedding). Please help me! Thanks in advance....

Hello, I'm so glad you liked it there! Doesn't the place just feel great! And as far as the ceremony goes it will be how YOU want it. I find that including and celebrating diversity is like adding depth and texture and scent to something which is already beautiful. It only enhances it. You tell me who you are, what this means to you, what will amplify the joy in your heart, and what you wish to impart, that's what creates your ceremony. We usually do a good portion of the writing from scratch, and there's usually a paragraph just on you and your beloved. My website has 2 examples of those (Erik and Meaghen & Katherine and Eddison) The short version, Your wedding your rules! Everything you want you get! This is your day. I heard an interesting quote the other day 'Never accept a 'no' from anyone who doesn't have the authority to tell you 'yes'. Places like the chapel are for people who want to work outside the box and choose what's right for them. Call me when you're ready! (yes, writing from scratch can take a while but it's worth it) Looking forward to hearing from you. L&L, April
