I Would Love Some Quotes!

So I'm very newly engaged and considering a May 2015 wedding in Nassau County. Since FI and I are temporarily living in California, I'd love to get some information and quotes for venues in the area ahead of time so that we can narrow it down to a few when we next visit LI and hopefully make the decision right away.

We're looking for a Saturday evening and would need to accommodate a guest list of 200-250 people. Some venues we're considering are Chateau Briand, Jericho Terrace, and the Sand Castle (just to give you an idea of what we're after-we're definitely open to new ideas!). Any information would be most helpful!

Just a quick addendum: I just received my first call back from a venue (not one of those listed above) and they refused to give me any specific information over the phone. Am I going to run into this problem consistently, or was this just a particularly unhelpful vendor?

Hi Nina and congratulations!

Planning from out of state can be trying! But on the other side of the coin once you find the right location and vendors, sometimes it's actually less stress. Many brides become consumed with little details where my out of state couples find they can pick up and put down the planning by choice... rather than feeling immersed in it.

LIW has a great tool that will give you a range of how much a venue will average.

The reason that you are going to have a hard time getting a price over the phone is that there are just too many variables. They want you to see what they have to offer, get a feel of what is important to you, and then see how they can make that happen. Day of the week, food choices, amenities, even time, all play a part when discussing price.

With that said, no one should be rude to you. Your banquet manager is someone that you will be working closely with for the next year. So they should be someone that you like and, most importantly trust. But again you can't push for a quote if there is not enough information to give you one that is realistic.
