We can reveal writers have been locked in secret talks about the shocking plan. Sources say Cross is the favorite to bow out in an episode during May sweeps, when top ratings will be crucial to guarantee the show's future.

'Ever since the show premiered, there's been talk that one of the key characters would be killed off,' said a source close to the series.

'And ABC and show execs want a blockbuster plotline to woo bigger audiences and regain critical acclaim for the prime time hit. TV dramas like Dallas and Lost drew huge numbers when they hyped killing off a key cast member. As a result, after a recent meeting between writers and show execs, Marcia is being pegged as the girl most likely to go in May.'

HILTON HOTEL TRASHING --EXCLUSIVE PICS

Paris Hilton may be checking out of her relationship with new beau Stavros Niarchos III after some rowdy pals of the Greek shipping heir caused up to $100,000 worth of damage by trashing one of their Las Vegas hotel rooms and setting off the sprinkler system.

Even party-loving Paris, 24, was said to be livid with 20-year-old Stavros after a pillow fight escalated into a room-destroying melee at the Hard Rock Hotel.

Sources say the couple is headed for the rocks over the juvenile stunt, which triggered the hotel water works and forced other guests to evacuate in the early morning hours of Nov. 13.

'Paris has had it with Stavros after this room trashing stunt,' said a source close to the celebrity heiress. 'She thinks he and his crazy buddies are way too immature for her.'

The out-of-control shenanigans took place after Paris, Stavros and friends helped Kelly Osbourne celebrate her 21st birthday party at the hotel's trendy nightclub Body English the night before.

During the pillow fight-gone awry, one of the tables in the room was apparently tossed into the air and hit the sprinkler head on the ceiling, setting off the fire alarm, as well as the sprinklers in several other rooms in the hotel.

'I was woken up by fire alarms at about 7:30 a.m and then a half-hour later,' said a guest in a neighboring hotel room.

'As I evacuated with other people on the floor, I saw into Paris and Stavros' room — down pillow feathers covered the carpet and every lamp was broken.

'A tall, young guy I recognized as Stavros was standing there shirtless, with white feathers in his long hair, while his bodyguard told Hard Rock representatives, 'Why are you so upset? It's all going to be paid for.''

'At least four rooms suffered water damage.'

According to a hotel insider, Stavros — whose family is worth a reported $7.5 billion — could be charged as much as $100,000 for the damage.

'He had to call his father to get the credit card charge okayed,' said the insider. 'And Paris, who was elsewhere when the bust-up took place, was furious with her boyfriend when she had to bail him and his buddies out of a jam with the management.

'She was overheard telling Kelly, 'Just look at this mess! I don't want them (The Hard Rock Hotel) to think I bring in people who do this stuff.''

A spokesman for Paris told the Enquirer, 'The man at the center of this is someone else, who bears a striking resemblance to Stavros. When they go out clubbing together in Los Angeles he is frequently mistaken for Stavros. At the time of the shenanigans Stavros was asleep in bed with Paris.'

That doesn't mean Paris was any less angry with Stavros over this latest incident. She holds him personally responsible for what happened.

According to the Simple Life star's friend, the act of hooliganism may be the final straw for her relationship with Stavros.

Paris — who was engaged to Greek shipping heir Paris Latsis before dating Stavros — told a pal, 'I've had it with Greek boyfriends.'

Olympic gold medal-winning figure skater Kristi Yamaguchi and her husband, Bret Hedican, a Carolina Hurricanes defenseman, have had their second child, PEOPLE reports in its upcoming issue.

Emma Yoshiko was born on Nov. 17 in Raleigh, N.C. The couple also have a daughter, Keara, 2.

Yamaguchi, 34, and Hedican, 35, met at a 1995 gala to celebrate the opening of Vancouver's new ice hockey arena. 'He was clean-cut and soft-spoken,' Yamaguchi told PEOPLE after they became engaged on Christmas Eve, 1998. 'Figure skaters have awful perceptions of hockey players, and I thought, 'This guy's a little different.''

The couple exchanged vows in front of 300 guests after a picture-perfect sunset over Hawaii's Kohala coast at the Mauna Lani resort on July 8, 2000.

At the reception Hedican serenaded his bride with the Bob Dylan-penned song 'Make You Feel My Love'?

'They let us share an amazing moment of intimacy,' skating star Scott Hamilton, who was a guest at the wedding, told PEOPLE at the time. 'Every single woman in the room was crying.'

Well they can't get rid of Teri Hatcher, and I wouldn't watch if they got rid of Eva - so it would have to be one of the others. I don't think they should kill anyone off - they all have their role - kill George - he is so creepy

In an interview taped Oct. 30 with Barbara Walters for her upcoming special Barbara Walters Presents: The 10 Most Fascinating People of 2005, which airs Nov. 29 on ABC, Cruise revealed his latest purchase for his expectant fiancée Katie Holmes.

'I bought a sonogram machine,' Cruise told Walters. 'I am gonna donate it to a hospital when we are done.'

Added Walters: 'Wait, you are going to do your own sonogram?'

'Yes,' said Cruise, laughing.

The devices, which use ultrasound waves to allow a peek at a fetus's development, can cost anywhere from $15,000 to over $200,000. (Cruise's rep declined to comment on the purchase.)

So does Tom know if their camera-ready kid is a boy or a girl? 'No, I don't,' he said. 'Barbara, I would tell you. I would say, 'I know if it's a boy or a girl and I'm not telling you.''

Walters asked, 'So what do you see?' Said Cruise: 'A little baby.'

It's wait and see for wedding plans too, according to Cruise. 'We are gonna get married next summer or early fall,' he told Walters. 'We don't have a date set yet.'

Walters volunteered to catch the bouquet. But before Babs can dive for the flowers, Cruise has work to do. He and Holmes recently left for Shanghai, where he'll spend a couple of weeks on location to film scenes for Mission: Impossible 3, due out next May.

If they kill bree or any of the 5 main charachters i will stop watching the show...why do the writers feel its neccessary for ratings to go up to kill someone...i love marcia cross and she is a wonderful actress...it would not be fair to kill her and have her be out of a job just to get a few more ratings points!!!

Nick and Jessica Announce Their Split

After more than a year of break-up rumors, 'Newlyweds' JESSICA SIMPSON and NICK LACHEY have officially decided to call it quits, ET has confirmed.

'After three years of marriage, and careful thought and consideration, we have decided to part ways,' the couple said in a statement Wednesday. 'This is the mutual decision of two people with an enormous amount of respect and admiration for each other. We hope that you respect our privacy during this difficult time.'

Back in October, rumors of a split started to swirl when Jessica arrived solo (and without her wedding ring) to her sister ASHLEE's 21st birthday in Las Vegas and Nick, who was scheduled to be there, was a no-show. Nick and Jessica were also reportedly apart for two more special dates: their 3rd wedding anniversary on October 26 and Nick's 32nd birthday on November 9.

It was just this fall, while talking about her new body care collection 'Sweet Kisses,' Jessica spoke with ET, offering marriage advice. 'I think you have to always remember, and he has to remember, that you do need a compromise, even though it's hard,' she said.

She admitted though, that sometimes strong personalities can get in the way of marital negotiations. 'There's people with pride involved,' she says. 'You have to back down sometime -- just a little bit.'

The couple married in Austin, TX, in front of 350 guests in an hour-long Baptist ceremony. Jessica wore a strapless VERA WANG gown and Nick sang 'My Everything,' a song he wrote just for his bride.

Kimberly Stewart and 'Laguna Beach' star Talan Torriero say their wedding plans are off.

'It was just too soon to enter into a lifelong commitment,' their representatives said in a statement, the Associated Press reports. 'It is better to have a brief engagement than a short marriage. The couple continue to share their time together and remain open to whatever the future may hold.' Stewart, 26, the daughter of singer Rod Stewart, and Torriero, 19, star of the MTV reality show, announced their engagement less than two weeks ago.

Torriero's publicist said yesterday that the two were no longer involved. Stewart spokesman Elliot Mintz said they 'remain friends' and that they began dating 'a relatively short period of time' ago.

Stewart and Torriero were in the news Nov. 9 as passengers in Paris Hilton's Bentley when she was involved in a minor car accident. No one was hurt.

Stewart is a friend of Hilton's and was once rumored to replace Nicole Richie on the canceled Fox show 'The Simple Life.' Torriero says he's starting a music career.

Rod Stewart's Fiancée Gives Birth

Rod Stewart's fiancée, Penny Lancaster, has given birth to a baby boy, PEOPLE has learned.

The boy was born at 2:24 a.m. Sunday at St. John and St. Elizabeth Hospital in London and weighed in at 7 lbs. 7 oz., Stewart's publicist announced in a statement.

'Both Penny and our baby son are gorgeous, healthy and doing well,' said Stewart, who was present for, and participated in, the natural birth. 'I am so very proud of my girl Pen for the commitment, courage and strength she showed throughout.'

Lancaster, a former model, added: 'It means so much to Rod and I that we were able to keep to our birthing plan and have our baby naturally. It was the most empowering and spiritual experience of my life.'

The pair, who have been together for nearly six years, are currently at home in Epping, England. 'We are celebrating every moment with our beautiful boy, we just can't take our eyes off him,' said Stewart.

Lancaster, 34, and Stewart, 60, previously said they're aiming for a spring 2006 wedding.

This is Lancaster's first child. Stewart has five children from previous relationships: Kimberly, 26 (who called off her brief engagement to Laguna Beach star Talan Torriero over the weekend), and Sean, 25, by first wife Alana Stewart; Ruby, 18, with former girlfriend Kelly Emberg; and Renee, 13, and Liam, 11, from his marriage to second wife Rachel Hunter.
