Rapper Foxy Brown almost totally deaf, lawyer reveals

Rapper Foxy Brown is almost totally deaf, her lawyer said Monday.
Attorney Joseph Tacopina disclosed Brown’s hearing problem after a question about why they exchanged written notes while waiting in Manhattan Criminal Court for her case to be called on an unresolved assault charge from August 2004.

“She’s pretty much totally deaf now,” Tacopina said. “She can’t hear me. We have to write things back and forth. Anything I have to communicate with her now has to be written. It’s dialogue, communication.” Brown, 25, revealed during a court appearance in September that she would soon undergo surgery to try to correct her hearing. Obviously straining to hear questions, she refused to discuss the possible cause of the problem.

Tacopina said Monday the prognosis for his client after at least one surgical procedure is still undetermined, but “hopefully it (the condition) is reversible. She has to undergo another surgery.” Meanwhile, Judge Melissa Jackson adjourned Brown’s case until Dec. 23 when, Tacopina said, he expects the case will be resolved. Brown, whose real name is Inga Marchand, is charged with misdemeanor assault, attempted assault and harassment.

The list of gifts included some understated china, pricey linens, and several Faberge items. Cruise's rep had no comment and the registry disappeared from the site shortly thereafter.

Adam Sandler is going to be a real-life Big Daddy. The comedian's wife Jackie is expecting the couple's first child, due next spring, a source close to the couple tells PEOPLE.

On Friday night, Sandler had his annual holiday party at a rec center in Burbank with food, bowling and ice skating. His wife was there, and 'she looked radiant,' the source says.

Sandler, 39, and Jackie, 31, wed on June 22, 2003 at **** Clark's oceanfront Malibu estate before 400 guests – among them Jennifer Aniston, Brendan Fraser, Dustin Hoffman, Rodney Dangerfield, Sharon Osbourne and Rob Schneider.

At the Jewish ceremony, Sandler wore a tux and yarmulke – as did his bulldog Meatball, who preceded Jackie down the aisle, bearing her wedding band on his back. (Jackie, whose maiden name is Titone, converted to Judaism in 2000.)

The pair have been together for seven years. Jackie, a model and actress, has a brief role in Sandler's film Big Daddy: She plays the waitress who takes his order for a root beer in the sports bar scene.

So I was watching VH1 Big in 05 last night and Jessica Simpson won for style icon. When she came up to make her acceptance speech she looked and sounded so WASTED...I don't know if she is really that dumb, or was too drunk to make a coherant thank you...

Angela Bassett & Hubby Expecting Twins

Angela Bassett and her husband, fellow actor Courtney B. Vance, are going to be parents, PEOPLE has learned.

'They are expecting twins via a surrogate,' says a source close to the 47-year-old star of How Stella Got Her Groove Back and What's Love Got to Do With It.

The source adds: 'The babies are due in a couple months.'

A publicist for Bassett had no comment.

The two have been a couple since the fall of 1996, when Vance (The Preacher's Wife) ran into longtime acquaintance Bassett at a play in Los Angeles, PEOPLE reported in early 1997.

Vance and Bassett began talking, went out on a few dates and quickly fell into a serious relationship. 'We're like old friends who all of a sudden looked up and said, 'Hmmm...,' ' Vance, now 45, told PEOPLE back then. 'Gradually it dawned on us that we like each other.'

They must have. That December they announced their engagement. And while Vance never revealed details, he did say that he made his proposal 'down on one knee – the normal way.'

Aniston Lawyer Warns of Topless Photos

Jennifer Aniston's lawyers are sending out a warning to the media not to buy photos from a paparazzo who allegedly took telephoto pictures of Jennifer Aniston sunbathing topless at her Southern California home.

Aniston's legal team says publications on both sides of the Atlantic could face invasion-of-privacy lawsuits if they use the shots, according to a letter obtained by the Smoking Gun Web site.

'If you are approached and offered the right to acquire and publish (any) of the photographs,' reads the letter from Aniston attorney John Lavely, 'please inform the undersigned of the name and contact information of any person or persons who are offering to sell or license any of the photographs.'

Lavely warns that 'publication of the photographs would not only expose you to substantial damages … but you … will also be held liable for the embarrassment and emotional distress caused to Ms. Aniston by such publication.'

In 2002, Aniston settled a lawsuit in Los Angeles federal court against a men's magazine publisher that ran photos of her sunbathing topless in her backyard.

Aniston sued Man's World Publications and Crescent Publishing Group in 2000, claiming the publishers had no right to run a photo of her 'reclining topless in her backyard, wearing only her panties,' court documents stated.

The photo was allegedly taken by a 'stalkerazzi' who climbed a neighbor's wall to snap the shots with a telephoto lens on Feb. 28, 1999.

As we enter our second week of mourning over the cancellation of Jessica Simpson and Nick Lachey's camera-ready marriage, the PR battle is heating up as new details about their not-so-sudden split trickle out.

Us Weekly (via the Insider) reports Jessica, 25, was the one who decided to pull the plug on the problem-plagued union, and informed Nick, 32, about the impending bust-up announcement in the kindest and gentlest way possible: She sent an e-mail.

'She had had enough of the marriage and the fighting,' a mole tells the magazine. 'She just wanted it to be over.'

The one person who was surprised by this long-expected move was apparently Lachey himself, who was set to go to Texas to celebrate Thanksgiving with the Simpson clan, reports 'Extra.'

'He feels like he was sucker-punched,' another source tells Us. 'He wasn't even expecting it. He was devastated.'

HOLLYWOOD - Nicole Kidman's TV presenter sister Antonia appears to have confirmed rumors the actress is engaged to country singer Keith Urban, after being caught off-guard during an interview.
A reporter from Sydney's Daily Telegraph newspaper spoke to 34-year-old Antonia at a Disney channel party on Sunday, suggesting Nicole's 'big news' must be very exciting for the Kidman family.

After initially replying, 'Yes, yeah...,' Antonia quickly retraced her enthusiasm, saying, 'I mean, ah, I guess, ah, no, I don't know.'

Nicole, 38, and New Zealand-born Urban, 38, reportedly got engaged over the Thanksgiving weekend in Nashville, Tennessee, where they celebrated the holiday with both their parents.

Antonia says, 'My parents just got back last night, they had a great time but I haven't had a chance to see them and get all the news yet.'

Lowdown hears that the twentysomething CaCee (pronounced 'Casey') Cobb - who now finds herself the object of a quasi-custody battle between Jessica and her estranged husband, Nick Lachey - has been blabbing to friends about Simpson's alleged infidelities and voicing her sympathy for Nick's plight.

'CaCee can't get past the fact that Jessica cheated,' reports a Lowdown spy close to the situation. 'She feels badly for Nick and is very vocal about missing him. She saw Jessica abuse him all along. Ever since 'Dukes of Hazzard,' Jessica hasn't been good to Nick, and no one saw this more clearly then CaCee.'

While it has been widely speculated in print that Simpson had affairs with her 'Dukes' co-star Johnny Knoxville and 'Jackass' alum Bam Margera, the Lowdown insider claimed that Jessica also had a fling with Maroon 5 front man Adam Levine.

Levine's rep denied it yesterday.

'CaCee knows her loyalty belongs to Jessica, but she still resents her for hurting Nick so much,' said the spy.

Cobb apparently hasn't been silenced, even by such extravagant gifts from Simpson as the $40,000 BMW bestowed a few days before Simpson announced her separation from Lachey.

But yesterday Simpson's spinmeister Rob Shuter insisted that everything is peaches and cream.

'None of this is true,' he E-mailed. 'Saturday night was CaCee's birthday. We all had dinner and then went out to the Roosevelt Hotel [in L.A.]. Jess paid for everything. Jess also bought CaCee a vintage Rolex watch. Jess and CaCee love each other. CaCee is still friends with Nick.'

Lachey's recently hired crisis manager, Ken Sunshine, zipped his lips.
