Self-preservation and a need to recover from the loss of her boyfriend Stavros Niarchos to Paris Hilton are the reasons why Mary-Kate Olsen bolted from her studies at New York University and returned to Los Angeles, she says.

The 19-year-old mogul, in an interview with the fashion monthly W, acknowledges: 'I miss him and I love him and I don't speak with him anymore. It's a hurtful and painful subject. … This is a hard time for me.' As for Paris, she says, 'we're not talking.'

In going back to California, Olsen says, 'I'm happy that I kind of realized that, okay, I just need to take care of myself right now. I need to be able to go to yoga and work out and just read scripts and go on auditions.'

The less-stressful life, she says, is 'what makes me happy. You know? Like, (school) papers don't really make me happy.'

In mid-October it was announced that Olsen was beginning an approved leave of absence from NYU 'to focus on her increasing responsibilities as co-president of Dualstar Entertainment Group and to pursue personal interests,' said her rep, Michael Pagnotta. (Olsen shares responsibilities at the company with her twin sister, Ashley.)

When asked if leaving NYU had anything to do with Mary-Kate's health, Pagnotta said, 'No, it doesn't, and this is the most important thing. She's not reentering any kind of treatment facility or anything like that.'

Not long after Violet Anne Affleck came into the world on Dec. 1, pals of her famous father were making sure she got his religion: baseball, that is.

'We're going to raise this baby right,' Marc McGovern, one of Ben Affleck's oldest buddies from his hometown of Cambridge, Mass., tells PEOPLE. 'So she's definitely going to be getting a lot of baby Red Sox gear in the mail from me.'

She may have been born in L.A. – a continent away from Fenway Park or the hills of her mom's home state of West Virginia – but the firstborn child of Affleck and Jennifer Garner, who weighed in at 6 lbs. 14 oz., is destined to trace her roots back East.

Meanwhile, her parents are already at home in their new roles as Mom and Dad. 'Ben has been changing diapers. He's an amazing father,' says a friend of the couple's. 'I don't know if I've ever seen anybody happier. He's already wrapped around Violet's little finger.'

Violet, whom their pal describes as 'beautiful – you instantly fall in love with her,' arrived just a week after Garner and Affleck, both 33, shared Thanksgiving at their Brentwood home with her parents. After a complication-free delivery at an L.A. hospital, Violet (a Garner family name) was born at 3:26 p.m. Pacific time. The couple, who wed in June in the Turks and Caicos islands after dating for a year, brought her home three days later.

Ashlee Simpson's career may at times have resembled a roller coaster, but now the young pop star reveals that her personal life has been an equally rough ride.

When she was 11 and taking ballet classes, the 21-year-old Simpson tells Cosmopolitan magazine, she had a brush with anorexia.

'I was around a lot of girls with eating disorders, and I actually had a minor one myself,' says Simpson, who at one point stood 5'2' but only weighed 70 lbs.

'My parents stepped in and made me eat,' she goes on to say, adding that it was 'about six months of not eating too much at all.' The family support, she says, 'really helped a lot.'

The problem, she also confides, is long past her. 'I think I have good curves, and they're womanly,' Simpson says, noting that her mother and sister Jessica are also shapely. 'I hate it when girls lose their curves.'

Her best physical attribute, she states unabashedly: 'I have amazing boobs. I do, I know it. They're not too big, not too small. They're just perfect.'

As for the perfect relationship, that is still in the future. Ex-boyfriend Ryan Cabrera and she are 'good friends now, which is cool,' she says, noting that there's still time for her to settle down.

'I'd love to get married in my 30s,' she muses. 'I feel like your 20s are when you figure yourself out. So I would rather wait until I'm who I'm going to be and am ready for that after I've gotten through all my craziness.'

Matt Damon, 35, is reportedly about to become a dad! The Syriana actor's fiancée Luciana Barroso, 29 — whom he asked to marry in September 2005 after dating for more than a year — is three months pregnant, the report says. Matt's rep tells Star she is unaware if the couple are indeed expecting.

Matt is already familiar with parenting, though: He's close with Luciana's seven-year-old daughter from a previous relationship.

News of the pregnancy comes just days after Matt's best buddy Ben Affleck also became a dad — Ben's wife Jennifer Garner gave birth to daughter Violet on Dec. 1 in L.A.

'There is a marked difference in the size and shape of her lips that is likely the result of an injectable filler,' says NYC-based plastic surgeon Dr. Douglas M. Senderoff, after viewing before and after photos. He suspects she's plumped her pucker with Restylane, a filler that lasts longer and gives a more natural result than collagen. The effects will last about three months.

'They look really swollen,' agrees NYC plastic surgeon Dr. Robert Vitolo. 'When you first do lip augmentation, the injections cause the lips to get swollen, especially when you inject a lot.' He says the swelling should diminish in a week to 10 days.

LOS ANGELES -- Matt Damon married girlfriend Lucianne Bozan during a private ceremony Friday in New York City, his publicist said.

Damon, 35, and his bride exchanged wedding vows during a small ceremony at an undisclosed location, spokeswoman Jennifer Allen said. Bozan's 7-year-old daughter witnessed the ceremony.











There were no other details. Asked if Damon's friend, actor Ben Affleck witnessed the wedding, Allen said no.

It was the first marriage for Damon, the second for Bozan. They will split their time between homes in New York and Florida.

Damon's publicist wouldn't discuss an 'Access Hollywood' report that the new Mrs. Damon is pregnant.

The Oscar-winning 'Good Will Hunting' screenwriter and actor ('Saving Private Ryan,' 'The Talented Mr. Ripley,' 'Ocean's Twelve,' 'Syriana') met Bozan while she was working as a bartender in Florida, Allen said.
