'They were smiling and laughing' according to an eyewitness. 'They seemed like a very happy family.' What made the sight of this seemingly carefree couple so shocking? A week earlier, on Nov. 30, Brit tossed Kevin out of their Malibu, Calif., home, had his $270,000 Ferrari 360 Spider towed, and cut off his credit cards after again finding him hanging out in the living room with his potsmoking friends. But despite her initial fury, sources tell Star that Brit's decided to kiss and make up — at least for now.

TOGETHER FOREVER?
Their big blowout, just two days before Brit's 24th birthday, was just the latest in a string of fights. So why is Kevin, 27, who partied with friends at the Beverly Hills Hotel and in Las Vegas after being kicked out, back in Brit's good graces? 'Britney hates the idea of being alone on her first holiday with the new baby,' says a friend of the singer. 'She wants to make Sean's first Christmas perfect, and that means having his daddy in the house.' It helps that Kevin called his wife of 15 months and grovelled, swearing to keep his friends away from Sean. He also promised to help around the house and with the baby, to stop running off to Las Vegas whenever he gets fed up, and to seek counseling if the two fight.

After seven years together — four of them married — Christina Applegate and Johnathon Schaech confirmed on Dec. 5 that they are getting divorced, and friends say it's a true case of irreconcilable differences. 'Two years ago they started having problems, and they tried to work things out,' says a source close to Christina, 'but I think the real reason is that she wants a career and he wants a family.'

Lately, she's been working so hard that they haven't spent much time together. 'Christina has been in NYC most of this year, starring in Sweet Charity on Broadway, and it sounded like she didn't want him with her,' says a friend of the couple. 'How do you think that made him feel? He really wanted the whole ball of wax — life with Christina, kids, a dog in the yard. But she went where her career took her.'

Things took a real downturn, the friend says, when Johnathon, 36, heard rumors that his wife was getting close with other men while in NYC. Indeed, a source has told Star that on Nov. 3, Christina, 34, got cozy with Ian Longwell, lead singer of the British rock band The Bollocks, at NYC karaoke bar Encore. Her rep and Ian denied they hooked up, but an eyewitness says, 'They sat together for about three hours and left within five minutes of each other.'

As for the marriage, 'I think Christina realized early on that it wasn't what she really wanted. She's too independent,' says the friend. 'Johnathon has probably been preparing mentally for this [split] for a while,' says another source. 'He certainly couldn't keep Christina in a marriage she didn't want, and he's not going to run her through the wringer.'

Jennifer Aniston, whose ex-husband Brad Pitt is preparing to legally adopt Angelina Jolie's two children, says she too wants to start a family.

'Ideally I'd like to have a couple,' she tells InStyle magazine in its January issue. 'But who knows.'

The actress adds that her dreams of a family in the future are 'part of the unknown that I like.'

As for her romantic life, Aniston says she never made a conscious decision to start dating but that she gradually got ready for it. 'You just wake up one day and you start to feel like, 'Yeah I think I'm open to that now.' It's not mapped out. It just sort of happened.'

Aniston hasn't officially confirmed her relationship with Vince Vaughn, who costars with her in the upcoming comedy The Break Up, but the pair have been spotted kissing, canoodling and walking on the beach near her Malibu home. The couple also spent Thanksgiving together in Scottsdale, Ariz.

Of her divorce from Pitt, which became final Oct. 2, Aniston says she's glad the frenzy surrounding the split has died down. 'I feel good to have everybody sort of moving on from it.'

News of her baby helped Britney Spears retain her status as the No. 1-most-searched name on the Internet, according to the annual Yahoo! 'Buzz Index' poll – causing more buzz than Jessica Simpson, Paris Hilton and Lindsay Lohan.

This marks the third time in four years that the pop princess has earned the title. Last year, the 24-year-old Spears came in second, behind American Idol.

Erik Gunther, who compiles the list, tells Reuters that the 2005 Top 10 consisted of showbiz figures, proving that the public is fixated on pop-culture icons.

The Top 10 names on this year's 'Buzz Index' are:

'He spun hits for more than 90 minutes and acted as if nothing was wrong,' says one clubgoer. But everything was wrong! Just one day earlier, Adam and fiancée Nicole Richie had pulled the plug on what seemed to be a fairy-tale relationship.

The split stunned even their closest friends. During the couple's one and a half years together, Adam and Nicole earned a reputation as one of young Hollywood's few solid, unabashedly affectionate couples — they'd recently been spotted house hunting in L.A., and a month ago, Nicole was boasting on Larry King Live that their wedding would be a showstopper, featuring live elephants! And though the duo, who were engaged last February, originally said they'd wed next summer, one confidant tells Star that Nicole had recently been telling friends that she was eager to tie the knot even earlier. Says the shocked pal, 'Nicole never said she was having problems.'

WHAT WENT WRONG
When Nicole, 24, and Adam, 32, started dating, it looked like a match made for the long run. 'We happened to hang out one day,' says Nicole, who met her beau through a mutual friend, 'and we never stopped hanging out.' Certainly they had a lot in common. They shared a history of drug addiction (he beat cocaine in 1998; she went into rehab to kick heroin in 2003), and each was in the process of trying to slim down. In 2003, the then-324 lb. Adam had gastric-bypass surgery, a procedure that helped him shed nearly half of his body weight. 'So he understood the pressure that Nicole felt to be thin. In fact, that was what drew them together,' says a friend of the pair. 'They got skinny and stayed sober together.'

What pulled them apart, the friend supposes, was a growing concern that Nicole's weight loss was almost turning obsessive. In recent months, the 5'2' Simple Life star has dropped from 125 to 92 lbs. and, the friend says, her record-spinning beau feared her drastic loss wasn't due to dieting or exercise. 'He suspected she was doing something to suppress her appetite and he warned her not to go there.'

Renee Zellweger and ex-husband Kenny Chesney are back together.

The estranged couple has been spotted out on a series of intimate dates. Now they are willing to give their 128-day marriage another go, according to reports.

The stars amazed diners by enjoying a romantic dinner at Mario's restaurant in Rocky Hill, Connecticut.

'They just kept looking at each other. They were very happy and cuddly during their meal,' witness Anna Hernandez told In Touch Weekly magazine. Two days earlier they were seen holding hands at the town's Wethersfield Diner with Kenny kissing her twice on the cheek.

'They were very affectionate,' a witness said.

Hollywood actress Zellweger, 36, and country music star Chesney, 37, called it quits after she filed an annulment in September.

'They've been talking in earnest for the past month,' an insider told the magazine.

'Kenny is an amazing optimist and even at his lowest point he kept telling pals 'I don't think the final chapter has been written for us yet.'

The couple's relationship was strained from the start, with Chesney out on the road touring with his band.

Now Renee's feelings towards Chesney have been reignited.

'She's discovering what attracted her to him in the first place. He's a gentleman with a big heart,' a friend of Renee's said.

Renee has even turned to pal Nicole Kidman, who is dating country star Keith Urban, for advice.

'Nicole told her it isn't important to her to have her man by her side 24-hours a day. True love is what is important.'

Renee and Chesney tied the knot in May on the resort island of St. John in the U.S Virgin Islands.

The pair met at a tsunami relief concert in January.

Fans first found out about the relationship in April when she walked onto stage at a concert in Jacksonville, Florida, and gave him a margarita and a kiss.

K. Fed Denies Brit Blabbing

Did Kevin Federline run his mouth to a reporter during his brief period of exile from the rich and fabulous lifestyle of Britney Spears? According to In Touch, the underemployed former backup dancer-turned-much-mocked-wannabe rapper dissed his sugar-mama missus by maintaining that he had talked to his lawyers and would seek a settlement of '$125 million' if she gave him the boot.

'I don't like lawyers,' he's quoted as saying. 'But in this situation, I have to get protection.'

Which is probably what Britney was thinking when she had Federline sign a prenup that is said to limit him to just a few hundred grand for every year of marriage. But the report, which apparently originated with the German newspaper Bild, alleges K. Fed told pals the legally binding doc is 'not worth the paper it is written on.'

As much fun as it is imagining Kevin sitting around yammering to a 'false tabloid' about how he might one day be rolling around atop a big mountain of Brit's moolah, a few points gave us pause, specifically his sudden legal expertise and the absence of his trademark use of expletives as adjectives.

Sure enough, when contacted by MSN Entertainment, Britney's rep denied Kevin had chit-chatted with a reporter, adding, 'He and Britney are fine. Like normal couples, they fight and make up.'

On Monday night, the Federlines made a very public show of marital harmony as they stepped out arm-in-arm -- sans three-month-old Sean Preston but with their towering bodyguard -- to grab dinner and a movie in L.A.

They even dressed up for the papapazzi-covered occasion, with Britney donning an actual (albeit several-sizes-too-small) bra beneath her belly-baring white peasant blouse and Kevin pairing his usual tank top and hanging-on-for-dear-life saggy pants combo with a crisp white long-sleeved T-shirt.

After chowing down at an Italian restaurant, the couple took in 'Memoirs of a Geisha,' during which Kevin alternately snuggled up to Britney and talked on his phone, a spy tells Defamer.com.

Sorry to disappoint all those guys who like their Spiderman to swing both ways, but Tobey Maguire is reportedly planning to propose to his girlfriend of two years, 28-year-old Jennifer Meyer.

According to friends, the decision to pop the question came about thanks to his best friend Leonardo DiCaprio. A source says, 'Leo is still down about losing Gisele, and he told Tobey that if he really loves Jen, he should step up to the table and not twiddle his thumbs about marriage. He told me he absolutely wants to marry Jennifer in the coming year. He doesn't want to lose her!'
I don't know much about Tobey. He seems like an ok person. But getting love advice from a guy who lost arguably one of the most beautiful women on the planet might not be a good idea. Especially if that guy has been recently linked with Sienna Miller, who is about three bad dates away from a real-life re-enactment of Fatal Attraction. But hey - good luck with that.
