Re: Official Latina Brides Thread

I love baladas but we don't want to slow the tempo of the reception from a slamming spanish party.. So I think baladas and boleros during cocktail hour is enough for my guests..and gramdma!!

Re: Official Latina Brides Thread

Of course not, we played most of the baladas while people ate, and then 2 for DH and I to dance real close and everyone followed. The one with abuelito was actually the song he danced with my grandmother on their wedding, we danced it to honor her name.

BTW I love the colors on your avatar..

Im Puerto Rican and DH is Puerto Rican/Cuban/Irish. I incorporated a ton of spanish food during our cocktail hour. We had paella, empanadas, maduros, pernil, tostones...I think thats it but it was all soooo good. I also made sure to have a ton of salsa music played.

Hi ladies..!! I think this idea of posting a chat for OUR desires is great. It's definitely hard to find a place to chat about that incorporates our cultures and traditions w/the etiquettes of this part of the world we call home... So welcome all !!!

My name is Denise and both my FH and I are 2nd genration Dominican.. I just want a classy affair that will leave ppl talking about our affairs for yrs to come. I will definitely have a spanish station at the cocktail hr that comes w/ Coronas & Presidentes on the side of it. The cocktail hr will also have lots of baladas playing in the background..especially Luis Miguel (whom I just saw at the concert on /fri)..back to the wedding.. FH's cousin is singing our first dance which is one of these 2.. 'Creo en el amor' de Rey Ruiz or ' Una amor para la historia' by Gilberto Santarosa.. I can't make up my mind.. Help!!

Good Morning Denise. I'm Angie and I personally love 'Una amor para la Historia' and I also wanted to incorporate that song into my wedding. I think you should use that song for sure. It's so funny that you mentioned it b/c for the past 3 years every time I hear it I say I need to use this song.

Love your possible color choices.. very pretty! How was your weekend?

I was wondering... are you Inc anything from Kirks side ( jamaican ) into the wedding? Food etc.. or just music.. lol! I ask because I was feeling bad this weekend doing so much from the Spanish Culture and having my family there ( jamaicans ) or am I overthinking it... Should I set up a empanada station and a curry station.. lmao! You know what I mean..

Quia, so glad you're getting lots of ideas from this thread. I think you're amazing for taking the time to learn about fh's heritage. A testament to your love for him- awww

I would definitely advise working Corazoncito into the wedding....but as you mentioned, have a song open first. Only because the lyrics of the song talk about a lost love that he's mourning. If you open with something more traditional and then have the DJ mix into Corazoncito- that would be awesome. I would have to start cheering if I saw that.

I would say that would be great or have paella and if your hall offers jerk chicken then go for it. My RH offers jerk chicken as a main course i was thinking of having it as one of the main courses
