Re: The New FoxHollow Thread

mmm, cake sounds good right about now. I love napoleons, i never knew that could be used as a cake filling.
How did the cake designs look? That is the one thing i am worried about, i dont want to have to spend extra money, but i am picky.....
I am excited to go on wednesday night for the tasting. It is the one thing I could get FH to want to do.....because it involves food, other than that and the honeymoon, he has no input

Re: The New FoxHollow Thread

Hi everyone I've been a bit of a lurker here for a while, but up until recently I was planning on having a destination wedding. Making a very long story short, due to numerous complications my FH and I decided to get married here a little over a month ago, and since we were already locked into our travel reservation for this upcoming June, we had very little time to book a hall! Miraculously, Fox Hollow had availability on such short notice, so we are booked for 6/18/06.

Which brings me to a question: I've been rushing around trying to book everything as quickly as possible. Since it's all been so last minute and we are on a limited budget, I've been calling in favors with family and friends to secure vendors. Recently I attended a tea party night at the Fox Hollow where I discovered the hall's required insurance coverage for vendors who work there. My photographer is a family friend who does photography as a side business and doesn't have the insurance coverage they require. I am trying to make contact with my BM to see what my options are, but I figured I would ask if anyone on here has had this problem and if so what can be done about it.

I would really appreciate any information anyone could provide. Thanks!

I wanted a destination wedding and lost that fight too!

It might be able to be worked out but they might ask you to get the coverage and that's not the safest route. Have you considered going with a photo only package with Duet or 12th night or another reasonable and good photographer? It might not be worth the risk....and could end up costing you more if anything goes wrong- but that's the conservative legal minded-me talking!

i heard the news about frank and emailed arthur immediately (i had met him twice and thought he was great). He was SOOOO responsive. Although frank was great, i've had a hard time getting in touch with him. arthur, however, emailed me back just a few hours later AND called me. if you need to find someone to work with in frank's place, i highly recommend using him.

Aruthr is great- tho DH called him once and we didn't hear from him until a day or so later but it wasn't anything crucial. I rec him too!

I'm back! I have good news AND bad news........

The bad news first - I couldn't take any pics, the floors were being cleaned.

AND James (of PWP fame) got sick, and LEFT EARLY.....and no one called me to cancel the appt. In fact, I called 1 hr before my appt to see if we could come early, and they said 'SURE! James isn't in the office - he probably went to dinner...but he'll be back by 6, for sure!' He wasn't. And I didn't get a phone call. Whatever......

I didn't think that PWP was the best- James is fun tho.

I agree I didn't think they were beneficial either..I am really not even crazy about the vendors. I have yet to book one of them..not to say they arent good but I just was not interested

They seem to be much pricier than I'm looking to spend!

The only real benefit to PWP was their check list! I wasn't really on here that much when I first met with them. I was going to use them for invites but it was impossible to make an apt while I was working and in school so I went with a local woman who rocked!

DH and I used a few rec vendors but went on our own- they weren't that much more if anything at all but we had a winter wedding so that factors in...

We used Royalty, Bravo Sounds, Pedestals and we weren't dissapointed! They were all worth every penny! We almost used the travel agent- I loved them and felt bad b/c I wanted to give them the business but DH got a MUCH better deal online after 3 days of intensive research so we couldn't pass that up.

I say, to to PWP just to get the schedule and the folder- I used that thing SO much!!

Re: The New FoxHollow Thread

I agree. The PWP stuff isn't really helping me that much. I went to the tea party on Tuesday night, half of my stuff is done already. I think I am going with them to check out invites & favors. I made an appt. w/James in April. I figured it was worth a shot.

Hello- I am new to all of this and I am scared from all the things I keep hearing!! I must say, I am booked with Fox Hollow also and I met with James at PWP and it was a great experience! He has helped me with everything and he keeps in touch with me. I've only spoken to one other person there, I think her name was Dina or Tina and she was very nice too. I'm sorry to hear that you had a bad time but truly, I am a PWP supporter- especially James He's also hilarious!

For those of you who seem to know more, should I do a Veinnese hour? Any opinions on this, my menu is quite full but I can't decide if I should do that or maybe add in some other stuff- Any ideas??

CONGRATULATIONS

LAURA & PHIL

Hope you have a wonderful day!

I just saw this post! Thank you!!! It was a wonderful day I really can't complain. FH did an excellent job. Roy was our Matre D (can't spell, sorry) and Jenn was my bridal attendant. I didn't ask for much but every time DH turned around he had a fresh beer- even when the first one wasn't finished. The only thing that got confused and resulted in missed pictures was Jenn told DH to go straight through the tunnel our BP made for us and either she was wrong or our photographer and videographer weren't told that we were going right through and they both ran to the other side to get the shot. The photos were crooked and not the best but I can't fault my photo guys! He slid on his back on the floor to try to get it!

Everyone said the food was great and we had a last min add on of a ceremony with warm sweet milk and they got it perfect! The day ran like clockwork!! I'll post a full review in another week or so. I actually typed up the pre-wedding reviews already so I just have to add the day of parts! FH is a great place to have a wedding- I'm glad we went there!

AWWWWWW, yay! I'm so glad to hear this.
Can't wait for the review, and of course, PICS!!!!!

Re: The New FoxHollow Thread

Hey FH Brides.....my date (5/27-Winter Garden Pavillion Reception) is coming fast....I can't believe this day is finally coming.....it's hard to keep things in perspective when planning the 'Perfect Day' is lots of money and commitment. Worth it in the end of course but a pain when its coming so close....I have been looking forward to it since 97' ...so everything will be spectacular. Can't wait!!!
I guess I've been faced with the fact that it is one day to honor the rest of two live together and share pretty much everything with.. ..I'm glad that I've managed to keep it as real as possible by taking care of the little details at this point.....
Tuxes soon (really soon)
More response cards
Songs/slideshow during reception
Going thru what's happening with the guest bags, final touches to Florist plan
Church Booklet
Honeymoon Plans
Dress Appts.....BlahbLaHBLahhh

LOL....so I wish everyone a close to perfect day....and a beautiful life when its all said and done

Talk to you soon!! Ciao

~KiM

Thanks, I appreciate the advice. It looks like my only options are: 1) Sign a waiver stating that we take all legal responsibility if something happens, which my father would have to do since he signed the contract with the hall because my parents are paying for the reception. There is no way my dad is going to do this for numerous reasons. 2) Have my photographer get insurance just for the day. Unfortunately, this is going to mean calls to the insurance company and paperwork, and is most likely going to cost a few hundred dollars extra which I would have to cover. Considering all this, the money that I was going to save by using her is not looking like it is worth all the trouble, especially considering the extra cost for the insurance.

Even though I have not completely ruled out the possiblity of using my original photographer, I have started to look into other places. I called all the FH recommended studios, but since my budget is very limited due to the fact that I had not intended to be spending a lot since I was using a family friend, most were completely out of my price range. One place even laughed at my mother when she told them our budget (I won't say who so as not to speak bad of anyone's photographer).

The only place of the 4 that had availability on that day and was in my price range was Cassarino studios. I met with them and they were very nice and accomadating, but I have read mixed reviews about them from some brides on here and I am not sure. Anyone else have any recommendations or information on Cassarino?

Glad PWP is working for you- they aren't bad but not everyone needs them. James was a sweetie and gave me a few tips- one being after my hair trial to wear my hair that way for the rest of the day (minus the veil etc) to make sure it'll stay but as for everything else I didn't need them. ESP their dental service! That was a weird rec vendor!

As for veinnese hr- unless you have the money to burn I'd say you don't need it. Most people are stuffed and btwn the cake and the other dessert it's enough. If you want you can just add a tray of cookies to every table to give that little extra and save $$. You can do a choc fountain or simply save the money for the HM! (which is what I did and am glad I did it!) It's all depending on your vision of your day. Most people won't miss it! Good luck!

I agree that the waiver isn't a good idea. Out of the house vendors I only met with Sherwood and loved them but found comprable quality with Gray and better price. I have heard mixed Cassarino reviews and never went to visit them based on their BBB write up but that's me. Check them out if you feel they will work for you. I was also time crunched! I was trying to get my BM to visit Duet (who was my #2 choice) or 12th night (tho I didn't see them either). They have a tight budget and went with Celebrity Weddings- one of those all in one discount places. I'm nervous about her package tho- they originally were only going to TAKE 150 pics which isn't nearly enough. I think by the time she adds on more taken pics, etc she could have gone with a better photographer.

Moral: Sometimes you do better stretching a little to get quality and a vendor that you don't have to worry about. Assuming that you can afford it- I know not everyone can....weddings are $$!! I felt that my pics were the most important after the hall and DJ. You'll know when you find your solution! Good luck! You might also want to check out Patken and Franklin Square photographers. My MOH used Silverfox and while I have seen great pics from other girls I didn't like hers very much.

WHEW! Sorry so long!

I would like to see pictures of other peoples' weddings in the Winter Garden Pavillion. I am curious to see different color schemes, centerpieces, etc. Does anyone know the names of people that have albums/bios with good pics?
