Last time I spoke to Jerry Scotto (our adopted BM-we became orphans during the change. ) he said there is a different person we work with on menus.

Hey-- no worries, I booked WM in February of 04 and they honored everything that i originally had on my menu. In fact any changes at all were only for the better! I was really impressed!

what were the better changes in your opinion? :)

They now offer chair covers at no charge, and they were beautiful. Also, some of the add ons that they have now were not originally available. Plus, they still honored all of the add-on delas thatour original person offered us.

Re: Westbury Manor-Brides (We decided to make this our official thread)

Kelly or Jennifer handles the menus... not the banquet managers.. although I had to deal with a BM, Susan because they double booked our appointment by accident. Big, big, big mistake... Stick with Kelly or Jennifer!

Did you guys know that we get taxed on the 18% service charge? Apparently, service charge and gratuities are different. It is legal for them to tax the service charge but not gratuity. s u c k s...

not sure if they make anything off of it regarding taxes, but I just called them and this is what I was told

the service charge is for the bartenders, waitstaff and valet. this 18% is added onto the bill BEFORE tax is calculated, and is subject to tax.

the gratuity is what is given to the maitre d' and the bridal attendant.

I hate to say it, but taxing an add't 18% on top of my bill is going to leave A LOT less for tipping!!

that just brought me up over $90 pp all together...at least $700 more than I had originally calculated. that really sux!

ok guys - what am I doing wrong? When I take my per person cost, multiply by 1.18 and then multiply that by 1.08625 I get the same number as my cost times 1.08625 times 1.18 - stupid question, but please help! I want to budget correctly!

this is how I did it....pp charge times .18 then I added that amount back on to pp charge to get a total. then I multiplied THAT total by .0835, added on the first amount and now have my (much larger) pp charge

since I don't give a hoot who knows how much I am paying, this is what I did

70 x .18- 12.6 + 70= 82.6 X .0835=6.89 +82.6= 89.50 (total price pp)

The way I look at it is that in reality we are tipping the whole friggin WM...

So at the end of the day, the maitre d' and the bridal attendant are the only ones get tipped separately (via cash or check or whatever) correct?

ok - now I see - lucky I was budgeting the higher number all along, but if I wasn't it would have been an additional $1150!

Yup - the MD tip is about $3 PP and the BA is somewhere b/t $100 - $150 - for me, another $600 in tips! I hope it is well earned!

On the flip side, this whole tax on service charge is not just a WM thing, so we can't blame it on them - as far as I understand, most reception halls tax the service charge.
