Re: Westbury Manor-Brides (We decided to make this our official thread)

Nothing new that I know of...I know someone who went to a wedding there a couple of weeks ago and she said the food was excellent everything from the CH to the entrees to the VH...she said it was very classy (in the Garden Room)...the only thing she did say was that there was another wedding going on at the same time and that her bridal attendant was being shared between both brides...she said the bride felt so bad for her attendant bc she was running back and forth between brides...and the other thing was that WM had mixed up the favors between her wedding and the wedding the night before...the bride had to go around telling her guests to please not take the favors home that they were the wrong ones...other than that she said they put on a beautiful affair...

I am waiting for another friend of mine to get in touch with me...she went to a wedding there last week and left me a message saying that WM out does themselves and that she would get back to me with all the details

Re: Westbury Manor-Brides (We decided to make this our official thread)

Ok I just came back for WM I dropped off all of my stuff for my friday wedding!! They told me that Matra D (sp?) was Raul and that his tip should be $3- $5 per person? I am havig 262 people at my wedding so that means I should tip him between $750 - $1310 That is crazy!!!!!!!!! What did everyone tip there matra D? And how much do you think I should tip him? I am sooo confused! Oh and by the way... The WM looked amazing!!

Re: Westbury Manor-Brides (We decided to make this our official thread)

This is completely at your discretion. First of all, anything that you give should be greatly appreciated. Don't go by what they tell you - its always higher!

I would plan on tipping him between $2-3 per guest ... so say about $500-600 for the night. I think that is a very generous amount. If the Matre D is really awesome and you think he deserves more, then you can decide on it that night. Otherwise, I'd set aside an amount that is comfortable for you and just plan on giving that.

Congratulations, you must be so excited!!! Can't wait to hear all about your big day!

I have a flower centerpiece question.. Since we are having the oval (oblong) tables do you think I should go for a low oval shape centerpiece or a square vase? TIA
Any pics would be nice from past WM brides

Posted by girlygrl33

Our florist who is rec by WM- Pedestals rec high CP's, we went with the high and it was perfect especially for the manor room- it is a HUGE room and low CP's will get lost- if you are in the Garden Room def low CP's would be perfect. In may when I went to a party in the garden room, we peeked into the wedding in the manor room to see how they set it up and my DH was the first to say- it looks so bare- he of all people ( who couldnt care less about flowers) made a comment you need something tall on the tables whether candleabra or flowers. and at this wedding and mine all oblong tables used- they are not that long- once the tables are filled up with the place settings, glasses, favors, etc. it doesnt appear long anymore. I have a picture with my room in a few pages back that show with the high CP's.

Good point! I should add to my post I'm talking about the Garden Room. That is where we are. This is also the same person who gave perfect estimate on how crowded it gets in the Garden Room too....I trust him completely...wish they didn't change..

High CPs do look great in the Manor room - just look at babybride's pics. I had low, long cps in the Garden room and I thought they looked great. WM added the candle sticks on either side - I didn't know they were going to do it, but I liked how it looked...let me find a pic...

this is the best pic I have online, I have a better one at home that didn't get scanned in...

I am having low oblong shaped centerpieces and our reception is in the Manor room. When I first saw the manor room it was all setup for a wedding and the bride had low centerpieces and it looked great.

one of the past brides, not necessarily a WM bride, but it should stand for all, said that we should wait to make ALL add-on's until we go to pick out the menus- then it's crunch time and they are more likely to go lower on the price...not sure if this is completely true, but I think it makes sense and it something to think about.....

how I would LOVE the chocolate fountain, but with so much talk about the Garden Room being smaller than advertised I think the only place to put it would be in my lap!!!!!!!

I agree - I didn't add anything on yet. We are also going to wait until we choose our menu to add on the fountain.

Re: Westbury Manor-Brides (We decided to make this our official thread)

I dont know if they will budge with the chocolate fountain though they wouldnt for us, they are pretty firm because they know the demand for it, but at 4 pp its not bad anyhow. we added it at our final meeting doing the menu. BUT i wish we did it BEFORE b/c we bargained so much with signing you wouldnt believe what we got for next to nothing and I just wish I was more certain that I def wanted it when we booked the place- I think you get more by booking than waiting at the final meeting remember its CRUNCH TIME FOR YOU not them- but see you never know.
