Re: Westbury Manor-Brides (We decided to make this our official thread)

I dont know whats wrong with these people but I know when I get invited to a wedding I am prob. one of the first guests to reply. I dont want to be the one that the bride is stressing over. Its so annoying!!!! I thought I was doing good in the beginning when I was getting 12 back a day now its down to 2 a day

Yeah... We also had people that didn't respond (had to call them), responded with 4 people and didn't show up, decided to bring a random stranger along with them (house guest or something)..... Really, people can be so strange!

I've been to weddings where that has happened as well. Unbelievable! Really...what are people thinking! I've also seen times when not everyone was invited to the reception but people showed up anyway (that is a tough one).

Hey...here is another question for you girls. My reception is in the Garden Room. I know it is much smaller than the Manor Room but we are only going to have about 75 guests at the very most and probably much less. My FI and his father are dead seat on having an 18-piece big band. I am a little worried that the sound may be too much in that room but they seem to think that it will feel like one of the old 1940's clubs and that a plugged in DJ could be much louder. The band says they can't leave out any of their members from the gig but that they could do a lot of quieter and smaller pieces. What do you guys think? It certainly would be fun and would make an great impression. We wanted something just a little extra special and my FI's father is willing to spring the cash for it? Okay....long question

Question for the Manor room brides.... I am making a bathroom basket for both bathrooms and then FI brought up a good point, Do we share bathrooms with tthe other brides or is the one in the hall our bathroom? If we share bathrooms then other brides guests will be using our baskets. Thanks

DO NOT do it- the bathroom is for all- including the restaurant too!!!!! they have an attendant and their own stuff, save the $$$.

I have one more question.... There are only 6 days left until my response date and I am still waiting on 78 more responses to come in. What do I do if they are all not in by then? I am feakin!!!!!

yup, I had about 40 no responses to up to about a week before the due date, they will come, we didnt have to call anyone- they came about a week after the due date and some like 5 about 2 weeks after- I was annoyed b/c I had a seating board made up and had to give them the list! but if you are making up place cards it should be ok- you dont have to give your totals and seating arrangements till a week before the wedding.

I think its fine. Have they played there and in that room before? I think you will be ok with room, with only about 75 guests, if I were you , did you see the band? and their set up- go and measure or visualize in the garden room to see how it would look- I think that would be really neat to have that kind of band- different! I would also think about how many tables and the set up meaning how close would your guest tables be to the band? did you get a floor plan yet for table arraingement? but I really think you will have enough room- 75 guests roughly 7 or 8 tables 4 on each side 10 to a table comfortably, def I think it works!! Go for it!!!!!

Re: Westbury Manor-Brides (We decided to make this our official thread)

Thanks girlygrl33...I guess I should be lucking that this is the only thing I am stressing about. We signed our contract the other day but the room was being used. Our BM Maureen said that she would send us the measurements the band needs to make their decision. They have never played in that room before and are used to much bigger venues. This is a little favor for my FI's dad...he 'knows a guy' kind of Italian thing Thanks for all the advice.

Can you get your money back or store credit? Seriously everyone and anyone uses ALL of the bathrooms there. Weddings from upstairs use both up and down and vice versa- when the line is long downstairs they go up stairs or even the mens room, the restaurant and bar are open and that is the same bathroom they use - I went in may to a party there in the garden room and the line was to the fireplace. that is why your bridal suite is LOCKED at all times and no there isnt a bathroom in it, they are pretty small rooms. maybe if you got pharmacy stuff you can exchange them for table cameras or gift bags for BP gifts, anything?

oh as the bride if there is a long line do not worry the big stall for handicap they keep open for the bride and of course the handicap. so you can assure you wont be waiting on line!!!

Re: Westbury Manor-Brides (We decided to make this our official thread)

Hey,
Just a quick note before I leave for my honeymoon. Just know you are going to have the best wedding ever at Westbury Manor!!!!
Everything was flawless............
The decor was amazing and the staff did everything they could to ensure an outdoor ceremony like we hoped. They even started a few minutes early to avoid the thunderstorms approaching. Cocktail hour had to be inside, but people could still walk outside before the rain.
The bridal attendant was unbelievable that everyone in my bridal party kept telling me how much they loved her. Her name was Carrie. I increased her tip as I kept receiving compliments.
Our drinks were filled all night, the chef personally came out to deliver meals of unattended guests. The stuffed shrimp was so delicious that I ate the take home meals in the hotel that night.
We also had a band Code Bleu that was so great that our guests were literally chanting ONE MORE SONG at 12:00.... They did an encore.
Needless to say, our wedding truly was the best day and we received massive phone calls today raving about the Westbury Manor and how people have never been to such a wonderful wedding. You're in good hands. ENJOY!!!

We had meals to take home too- its the food you DONT eat- they pack it up for you to eat later so you dont miss out. I also had them pack up food from the cocktail hour- I just couldnt eat at all- I had 4 trays of food, they packed up seafood from the cocktail from our seafood boat, 2nd tray of food- we had them bring us to our table a huge platter with all 7 choices so what was left they packed up- ( its 2 of each so there was a lot left over, we couldnt really eat), 3rd tray of cookies, 4th tray of pastries and then of course the box of the top layer of cake- so expect to need help and a car to take home/hotel a lot at the end of the night.

Do you have to ask for all of that food or they just automatically give it to you?
