Re: Westbury Manor-Brides (We decided to make this our official thread)

Hello Westbury Manor brides, my name is Maureen Lobenstein, I am a banquet manager at Westbury Manor. I wanted to address your concerns on the Garden room with you. The Garden Room can accomadate 10 tables of up to 14 people at each plus a dais for 2, making the max 146 people. If you wish to omit the dais and add another table this would bring you total max capacity of the room to 156 people. If any of you ever have any concerns you are always more than welcome to call us here at Westbury Manor. Our number is
516-333-7117.

Congratulations to you all. The staff at Westbury Manor look forward to delivering a flawless event for all of you. Thank you & Happy Planning!

Re: Westbury Manor-Brides (We decided to make this our official thread)

wooh, omit the dais? then where does the bride and groom sit? and 14 to a table - yikes that is super tight in that room- Ive experienced it! It was a bit tight with 10 to a table to get up and out of our seats. I cant even imagine a bride or groom getting around the tables in there either to thank everyone with so many tables and having them packed too.
oh and for the girls who want the chocolate fountain and are in the garden room display it in the library! there will be lines or ask if they can do it in the conservatory room- no one will be in there. this way your room space is freed up for dancing and whover wants the chocolate can go and get it and enjoy it in the library!

I appreciate you openly addressing this issue. Unfortunately when some of us booked, the maximum capacity of the room was quoted a little differently. I am sure it will work itself out and I am very much looking forward to holding my wedding reception at the Westbury Manor. I have had nothing but good experiences so far in my dealings with you and your staff and expect to do the same going forward.

Many Thanks.

Do you think the room will basically empty out when they set up the fountain? I don't want the party to start once the chocolate starts flowing.

No the room wont get empty, there are lines but not overwhelming lines where people are waiting like 5 minutes, they brought out ours about I think an hour and a half before the wedding ended and WM does such a great job and there is soooo much food that people are stuffed and while they will still go and enjoy it or try it your guest will still want to party and dance and I like the idea of having it out of the room, I was in the manor room and I had to wait for it to kinda die down before we could get the party started again with the music- they put it in front of the dj so we couldnt dance. and they give soooo much fruit cookies and pastries on those trays along with your cake so believe me there is a ton of food. I really thought there would have more of a line and I had kids at my wedding - 1 kid table 14 seated , but there really wasnt and I was happy. they had the same thing on both sides of the fountain so that your guest can enjoy both sides I think that made it quicker too. Def have it - it totally worth it!

'The Garden Room can accomadate 10 tables of up to 14 people at each plus a dais for 2, making the max 146 people'

14 per table this is the 1st time I'm hearing this... In other words it will look like a school cafeteria...

Re: Westbury Manor-Brides (We decided to make this our official thread)

When we went to see Westbury manor, we were told that the Garden room would fit 120 comfortably. With a guest list of 160, he told us that the garden room would be too small, so consequently, we are in the Manor room.
I find it very strange how different people hear different things.

As for the chocolate fountain, I don't want it to stop the party. I am hoping they can put it somewhere where people can get to it and others can still dance. Could they display it in front of the dj for a little bit and then move it off to the side?

I dont think there is a choice in the matter, the table is huge and there isnt any other place to put it but in front of the dj/band because you need the space they put it on the dance floor . I too didnt want it there but thats the only area to put it- after seeing it- I totally see what they meant. but trust me it def wont disrupt the party- its a breather for your guest! they only had it out my guess is not even 20 minutes.

Re: Westbury Manor-Brides (We decided to make this our official thread)

Due to all of this 'I heard something different' I am really reconsidering having our reception at the Westbury Manor...I mean really, they tell you one thing and then you hear something totally different from somebody else. I dont think thats cool. We are having our reception in the Hill Room upstairs, and even though we are having only 75 people, we were told that the Executive Suite (where we will have our cocktail hour) will be exclusively for our use...I am really wondering about that one now...I love my date and if worse comes to worst I will change my venue...I only booked my photographer and church which I am sure will be able to work with me...I just cant deal with drama.

The issues are with the capacity of the Garden Room only - and it's not even that people have been told things that aren't true, it's really a matter of perspective. I'm sure the room can fit the number of people they say it can, but under specific conditions that most of us aren't aware of until the end of the whole process (ie, 14 people per table).

I've never heard another WM bride say anything negative about the Hill Room or the Manor room, if that makes any difference to you. Valentinegirl had her wedding in the Hill Room and I believe she was very happy and had no issues at all. You should do what makes you happy, but I don't think you have anything to worry about.

You're right, I guess I was just oversensitive this morning reading all the posts. I just dont like the fact that they tell you that an x amount of people will fit in a room just to make a couple of extra bucks.
