How did you pick your wedding date?

FH and I wanted to get married on 6/5 (we will be together 5 years) but the church did not have that date avail so we went with the weekend after.

Re: How did you pick your wedding date?

We wanted it to be at least a year (we got engaged in August) but neither of us wanted it to be in September...We picked the last possible weekend of daylight savings so we could save the most amount of money...And 10/24 it is!

Re: How did you pick your wedding date?

He didn't want to get married in the heat & I didn't at to get married in the cold so it was Sept, Oct or NOV. The Sprig was eaithe rto close ( 04) or too far ( 05)
Then Sep seeemd too soon, and then I decided I wanted to get married before daylight savings time ended, so itahad to be Oct.
Some close friends families had other Oct weddigns to go to, so it had to be the 9th or 16th, and my church had neither so we went to another church & picked the 9th, b/c it was first, and they had it open, so that was that.

Very romantic, I know. . .

Re: How did you pick your wedding date?

Our first date was Sept 8th 2000, got engaged Feb. 16th 2002. Knew that I did not want to get married in Feb. so we figured that we had our first date in Sept, so why not Sept. We knew that we wanted to wait at least 2 years so in 2004 the Sat that was around our dating anniversary is Sept 11th. We knew that we did not want to get married on Sept. 11th so we chose the next Sat which is Sept 18th.

Re: How did you pick your wedding date?

My FH chose our wedding date - we are getting married on the date that I first told him I loved him.

We originally wanted to get married on the date of which we started dating, but it was booked, so the next significant date to him was the day we chose. I thought it was the sweetest thing.

Re: How did you pick your wedding date?

We wanted a three day weekend because we have so many OOT guests and thought it would be more convenient for them. We wanted it in the fall because it's our favorite time of year. So we picked Labor Day.

The funny thing is, I always get Labor Day confused with Memorial Day, so when we initially booked the hall and church I told them 'we want the Saturday of Memorial Day weekend'...because I'm that much of an idiot. It wasn't until I got the contract and saw MAY 29, 2004 that I knew I had totally screwed up.

But it all worked out in the end. And now I'm wishing it really was May because I don't think I can wait until September!

(sorry, can't spell!)

Re: How did you pick your wedding date?

OK, I think mine is the most 'unromantic' reason .. but here goes.

Late last summer we booked a 10-day cruise to Caribbean.. its ALL we talk about, how much we'll look forward to it, etc.. and how much of our vacation time we're going to burn up in the process, etc.

Flash forward to this past December. We got engaged on 12/20. Off the bat we knew we did NOT want to wait until 2005 to get married, but also knew that if we picked any other date in 2004 we wouldn't have any more vacation days (or $$) left to take a honeymoon.. So we decide to plan the wedding date the weeekend BEFORE the cruise, upgrade to a suite, and make that our honeymoon! Our wedding is Sunday, July 25 - our cruise leaves on Friday, July 30.

An added bonus was that I always wanted a summer wedding -- so I'm lucky

Oh yeah, I forgot the I love the fall part.
Another Oct 9th bride- I didn't realize it was such a big day for weddings!
It is Columbus day weekend which also factored in.

Re: How did you pick your wedding date?

We're Christmas-time babies and wanted something for 'us' in the summer...for once! LOL

It was a toss up between July and September - my favorite months - weather-wise...September worked out for us wrt a couple of the vendors we really wanted.

Saturday's were out of the question b/c we wouldn't be able to make the pp minimum...so we chose the Friday of Labor day weekend.

Figured, what better way to end the summer than with a kick-a*s wedding?!

Re: How did you pick your wedding date?

we wanted to get married in April (towards the end) but MC didnt have any saturday nights open in april! So that left May or June as we really didnt want it to be too cold and we wanted our engagment to be less than a year! June won simply because it was the time when both the hall and the church had coinciding times open! No real significance although we will be on our honeymoon for our 5year dating anniversary!

Re: How did you pick your wedding date?

I knew that I wanted to get married in the fall, FH didn't care to much, but my date was pretty much chosen for me. We got enegaged this past Labor Day and I started looking for places right after that. When we finally found the place we loved, they had 2 dates available around that time- Sept. 4 (Labor Day weekend) or Oct. 9. We thought about LDW but if was only a week after our friends' wedding in Italy and it wasn't really 'fall' enough for me, so we went with Oct. 9.

Re: How did you pick your wedding date?

Basically I walked into the hall and said, what do you have open in the next 7 months... voila! That was my date and I got an amazing price.

My friend did this as well and got married at the Westbury Manor for $50pp

We wanted to get married in the spring. Our date was picked at random but it turns out that it is FH's half B-day.
