Re: Chateau la Mer Thread
I have no idea when the next tasting is... I'd love to back to another with a few close friends, but then again, it would be nice for them to be surprised when the wedding comes!
Yay! Another CLM bride!

Re: Chateau la Mer Thread
I believe we were told food tastings were every other Wednesday. But then again, we were told lots of things that haven't been true. I'm very, very, very upset with CLM. I'm going next week...I hope my next post is a better one.

No, we both went and brought the parents before we booked. It just happened that I said we wanted to come in and speak with them on Wednesday and Nick said there was a food tasting, so why don't we come and have dinner. Sure, why not!

Re: Chateau la Mer Thread
OK, so we went to CLM last night for the food tasting. All I can say is, delicious! I pray that the food is exactly the same quality on the wedding day because everything was great. They brought out a huge tray for just the two of us--we have leftovers for 2 weeks. This was not our first food tasting, but it was nice to experience again. Now, the biggie--the chapel. A little history: when we booked in October, Nick and George would not put the new chapel into our contract because they did not have all the permits yet. The last 3 times I've gone to leave deposits, I've gotten a different story from Nick. The last story, was that everything would be done in June. Well it's not. George told us the new bridal suite and the chapel would be done by the end of the year. He readily agreed to add it to our contract and if it wasn't done, we'd get full Vieneese hour for free. They were very nice an amenable to the whole thing. The one thing that did tick me off a bit was Nick's continual denial that he ever told me that it would be done in June. But, my mind is now at at ease.
Extra Info if anyone needs: CLM is now doing the chocolate fountain! $750 flat fee. CLM only has white linens. If you would like something else, they recommend Chair Covers and Linens (out of state and ships to them) and The Finishing Touch. If you need an officiant, they recommend Rev. Michael Callahan (a vendor on here) For those that asked, Vieneese is $15pp (I don't know if the price is different seasonally-a winter wedding does make things cheaper sometimes).

Re: Chateau la Mer Thread
I'm glad that the tasting was so good! I'm also glad things seem to be working out with the chapel, and at least you have some kind of promise from them if for any reason it isnt done. The other rooms there are beutiful so it couldn't be TOO bad of a thing!
I'm SO glad to hear they have a chocolate fountain... Seriously may have to consider adding that! Vienese would be great but a little too much pp if you ask me :)
Thanks for sharing all the info! :)

Good luck with everything I really don't have any questions for you to ask them right now I guess because I have so long to go until my wedding August '05. But I hope everything goes smoothly for you tomorrow.

Re: Chateau la Mer Thread
Oh wow your right your wedding is in November. Don't mind me it just seems like I have so much time to go before the actual day. And everybody's favorite line is "It will fly by so fast." But to me it still seems so far away.

It does seem far away, although I have to say the time really is flying by!! :)
So who have you been dealing with at CLM? There are a few of us who check this thread often, and more and more new brides are coming onto BHB.... hopefully they will come here if they are in 05 as well!

Re: Chateau la Mer Thread
Lou has been my point of contact and he is great very nice he always says if you have any questions call me. Hey I just thought of a question for you to ask how many tables would they set up for the reception if your having 200 guests.
I have been dying to know so I can start getting price quotes from Florists for centerpieces.

We have been using Nick- he is wonderful! We did ask Lou a few questions when we made one of our payments, he seems very nice as well! I think they said the tables hold 10-12 depending on what size you want... but always go less with the florist- they can add centerpieces at any time- but you don't want to pay for too many!

Have you checked out any Florists yet and if so what are some prices you got so far? When would you recommend start looking for florists?

Re: Chateau la Mer Thread
We do already have our florist- we booked them early cuz they tend to book quickly. We are using Burtons. Low centerpieces run about $65 each and the high ones run about $95. We are getting all of our flowers from them though. We did it early, because we knew who we wanted

As far as I know its not too bad- that includes any type of flowers that you want... I didn't really check anywhere else but I have heard of people paying a LOT more...
Good luck- let me know what you find out when you start looking!

Re: Chateau la Mer Thread
We actually asked about how many people at a table last time we were there and Nick said 10 is the usual and is a comfortable fit. I have a question about the tables and centerpieces too...if your vendor table is in the back and is only like 6 people...does it still need a centerpiece? I hadn't thought of this when I booked my florist and put down tha approximate number of centerpieces.

I don't think that the vendors table gets a centerpiece! They really shouldn't be sitting other than to eat anyway :) DJ and MC should be up and moving, photo and video should be shooting
