Photos of the Heart and other PJCC and Villa Lombardi Photo Vendors . . .Opinions Please

Met with Photos of the Heart yesterday and have a strong lean towards them (only photgrapher we met withthus far though). Asking all for opinions of other vendors at PJCC and Villa Lombardi's

*not considering ADA (heard horror stories and they have a write up with BBB)
*Daniel Krieger

Feel free to comment on any other in-house vendors that PJCC or VIlla Brides (or Birdes-to-be) have considered . . .

I booked Michael O'Neill - I really like his work and we just felt that they had what we wanted. A little pricey-but that is one thing I didn't want to skimp on....I want my grandkids to be able to look at those pictures on day.

We are using Patken.
They make a package for your budget.
We are using Steve. Doug the owner by far takes the best photos I have seen but he has a $1500 premium.

They are prints and you get to keep all your proofs. I have been happy with them so far.
We are using them for video also.

I'm using Dan Krieger. He's really great to work with, and his prices are very reasonable.
We are using him for both Photography & video.

He has a few different packages to meet budgets, and is willing to work with you on mixing and matching packages.

I've seen work from all of those vendors with the exception of Michael O'Neill.

From what I've seen - without knowing prices or what they offer - I think Daniel Krieger does the nicest work.

A friend at work used Photos of the Heart and it was very traditional style of photography. All posed shots no photojournalisitc shots. Like the pictures with the brides train in the front of her with bouquets on top on the floor. Not my style but I know others like this style. So it is all a matter of what you like. They are not cheap either. She paid over 3K. She said they were great to work with and extremely professional and easy to get into contact with.

I was married at PJCC and used JoVon. They did a great job using the grounds and having us take pictures at great locations!

Having our reception at PJCC and are using North Island Photography (Michael owns company and Michael and Debbie do all photography). I *love* their work and they are very familiar with the area. They are based in East Setauket. Definitely worth checking them out. Their photography is beautiful!

There used to be a vendor review section with a lot of positive reviews from Photos of the Heart. I can't remember anyone using them recently.

You should try doing a seach for them, maybe see other pics.

I'd go see a few more photographers before you book. Just to get a feel of other styles, prices.

Question: Do you have to use house vendors at PJCC and VL's?

We looked at Micheal O'Neill, He also did my BILs wedding 3 years ago and he did really good work! BUt like someone else stated he was pricy, I think we priced out a package at about 4500 for a 60 pic album 2 parent albums, 6 5x7s, 3 8x10s, and like 80 TYs....I might be off at the quantities but I think they are pretty close to what we looked at. We didnt book because they are digital and I had some concerns about that and then when I voiced these to the woman, her response was that a 100 years ago, film was new too....
I didnt know how to respond to that, except thats great, but I am not getting married in 1904!

Just curious: how does it work with an "in house" photographer? Photography is so subjective.

I'm using Doug from Patken. Only downfall is.... he is pricey to say the least, but he did my girlfriends wedding and her pictures were unreal! Once my mom saw her pictures it wasn't even up for discussion - we were going with Doug no matter what. After all is said and done that day, the only thing you really have left are your photos and your video. We figured we could cut corners with other things just so Doug could fit into our budget. There is another guy from Patken who I heard is excellent as well, and not as expensive as Doug.....I think his name is Steve? I would check him out!!

We booked Photos Of the Heart - we loved their style, and more importantly, the time and attention they paid to us. We didn't really get that attention anywhere else. Plus, for what we're getting the price was pretty reasonable. I also like that they're staying through the end of the reception, most vendors leave right after the cake. I think they'll be fantastic!

No, just needed a starting point . . In-house vendors are usually cheaper to feed . . .Have any out of house vendor suggestions?

I booked with photos of the heart and they too were the first people that we actually sat down with. They are so friendly and professional. They sat with us for 3 hours, showing us their work and talking with us. We felt so comfortable that we left the deposit then and there. We are also using them for our videography also. I don't know of any other company that makes you feel the way they made us feel. I would say go with your gut, if you were comfortable with them then book it.

I'm also getting married at the PJCC in March. I used Park Ave. studio for my photography. They are in Sayville. There # is (631)589-7735. They are very helpful, pleasant and I think very reasonable. Our engagement photos came out fabulous! I'm very happy I went with them. I chose not to use any in-house vendors. Just did not hear good things. A.D.A. especially! My neighbor used them and his pictures were terrible. The color was all distorted.
