What made you pick your date?

What made you pick your wedding date and the times you chose?
For example..we wanted a night wedding on a saturday. Dh was non negotiable on having it on a Friday night, Sat or Sunday in the day. Our people are partiers so it had to be night for us since we didnt do a traditional slow dance and mellow wedding. Also we didnt want all our anniversaries to be on a cold day since we plan oh having a celebration of some type each year.

Re: What made you pick your date?

Don't get me started!! We had originally planned to get married on February 14th, which happened to have been my aunts 50th birthday. Well, instead of being honored we wanted to have it on her b-day, she called me up hysterical crying asking why I was doing this, how could I plan this on her birthday, which was also Valentines day. Anyway, after I was sick in bed for three days crying because of her calling and asking us to change our WEDDING DATE for her birthday, DH and I in order to avoid any trouble in the family, which all hate her now for what she did, we moved the wedding up a week.
In the end, I was happy it was a week sooner, but the nerve of my aunt, the crap she pulled will never be forgotten. We were very close before my wedding, but since her call, things have not and will never be the same!!
Feb 14th was our dating anniversary, that is why we had picked it!!
But in the end, I guess it doesn't really matter what day it was on, it was the best day of my life and would have been the best day no matter what day of the year!!!

Re: What made you pick your date?

We picked Friday night because of money... although its funny, we never even ASKED the Saturday night price when we went to speak to the catering hall :) We either wanted a fall or spring wedding, but needed some time to save. Since we got engaged in December, if we waited till the spring it would have had to be 2 years engaged... so we decided on the fall... Since I'm a teacher we leaned towards the week before Thanksgiving so I wouldn't have to take too many days off... I would have preferred October but I'm happy with the date we chose!!!

Re: What made you pick your date?

FH younger brother will be in from the Air Force Academy for Thanksgiving...so we decided to do it the day after Turkey Day so he (and other OOT family members) will be around.

Its going to crazy in his family's tiny two family apt building that weekend! 6 Canadians in the Basement, 2 Arizonans on the Couch...One Academy Senior back in his old room....and My FH probably sleeping in his younger bro's bunk bed......Ahh and me in my pretty little hotel room!!!!

We love the fall, but had to make sure the wedding date in italy could closely coordinate with our nyc reception.

Re: What made you pick your date?

Ok, first, it had to be at least two years away because we were living in boston at the time and did not want to plan the wedding until we moved back to NY. Second, I'm a teacher, so I really didn't want to have to take time off of work to get marrried, so it had to be in the summer. Third, I really wanted a Saturday night wedding, but I really didn't want to pay the extra money because the hall was already so much to begin with, so I looked at the calendar and figured that July 3 was perfect because it's a Sunday night, but just about everyone has the next day off, so it would at least feel like a Saturday night

Re: What made you pick your date?

We wanted a holiday weekend so we could have a Sunday night wedding (instead of a sat night for financial reasons). We originally wanted memorial day w/e, then labor day and lastly columbus day. We ended up w/ columbus day w/e b/c it was what our hall had available but I was happy b/c I originally wanted an october wedding. FI wanted a may wedding. But it all worked out!

Re: What made you pick your date?

Well, because I love red, i thought that a Christmas time wedding would be nice. But, my birthday is 3 days before Christmas, so I didnt' want all of my celebrations to be exclusively in December.

We got engaged on Memorial Sunday of 2002, so we thought that a memorial day wedding of 2003 would be nice. but, my best friend's mom already had weddings to go to on that weekend. And, I would have still been in grad school, so we scrapped that idea.

We started looking into June, July, Aug, and Sept of 2003, but my Dad flipped out and thought it would still be too soon because I'd still be in grad school.

Then, I had to breaze passed another Oct, Nov, Dec, Jan for the original reason: too clost to my B-Day.

So, we settled on the 2 year anniversary of when we got engaged- Memorial Day Sunday. It worked out well of our OOT guests because they had the day before our wedding and the day after our wedding off from work...

Re: What made you pick your date?

It was unusual...Leap Year Day....also, it'll be nice to go away for our anniversary to a warmer climate.... it happened to fall on a Sunday night though, but we still had a lot of yes's...

Re: What made you pick your date?

Well we were limited to may and june since I wanted to wait until after I graduated from medical school and before I have to start residency (didn't want to worry about scheduling conflicts, or lose honeymoon time). After that we were pretty open to end of may/beginning of june. Then once we decided on fri/sat/sun we just liked how june 10th sounded better than the other saturdays. Guess there was a method behind the madness

Re: What made you pick your date?

We have not officially picked a date but are looking at 2/19/06. Our anniversary is 2/13 - first date was 12/4 so I wanted it to be in December or February. But I do not want V-day. Flower prices would be outrageous.

We have since learned that February is MUCH cheaper and we want a holiday weekend for OOT guests (mostly my family in VA). My sister even asked that we do it in NYC so she can hang out in the city. LOL

Re: What made you pick your date?

the 20th is our anniversary date and October is the half way mark cause our anni is in April, FH wanted fall/winter because he will be in full dress uniform so it just made sense for us to pick Oct. 20th.

Re: What made you pick your date?

I always wanted to be a summer bride and we always liked Friday weddings (plus they're a bit less expensive). Before we even got engaged I signed up for LIWeddings and the Knot, and randomly picked 7/29/05 as my wedding date (since I didn't have one yet!!!).
When we started looking at dates that ended up being one of them and it just worked out that way!

Re: What made you pick your date?

I definitely wanted it during a non-summer but warm month. We definitely wanted Saturday. FI did not want anything on a holiday weekend. That only left one day that was available!!

Re: What made you pick your date?

My parents who are generously paying for the reception didnt want the wedding on anything but a sat night. They felt for people to enjoy themselves or come from OOT that would be best. FH looked in weather almanac and less chance of rain so that is how it come to be a sat night in sept.
