Would you wear a red dress to a wedding?

One of my friends (more like a frenemy) told me she's planning on wearing a red dress to my wedding. I didn't think much of it, but my BM (who also knows this girl) was like 'She's doing what? There's a reason you buy a RED dress--it's sexy and attention-getting.' So, now I'm wondering, would you wear a red dress to a wedding or would you think it's appropriate for a guest to do so? Just curious.

I had two people wear red to mine and I thought they looked great and it didn't phase me. I think a lot of people are trying to be more 'fashionable' than the standard black dress. Over Labor Day weekend I wore a black dress with big red flowers on it.

Wow, I never thought about that. I recently wore a red dress to a wedding. It was borrowed from a friend b/c I had nothing to wear, I was also that friends date b/c her and her boyfriend broke up right before the wedding. Anyway, she wore a red dress also. I guess thats bad. I hope I didn't offend anyone.

My favorite color happens to be red, and I've worn red to a wedding. Its one thing to wear a tasteful dress that happens to be red, and then theres the sexy red dress that is worn to grab attention. IMO its not the color of the dress, its the style.

I have a gorgeous, floor length red dress that I have worn to a few black tie events... I get so many compliments on it! Yes, I am one of the few that stick out in a crowd of all black, I prefer not to wear the same thing everyone else is... I also do not find anything wrong with it. JMO.

I would absolutely wea ra red dress to a wedding. i think red is beautiful. If the dress is covered in sequins and barely covers the ta ta's, then I'd say there was something wrong, but there's no porblem with wearing red. you can wear any color and be trying to get attention. Also, there are a lot of people who say you shouldn;t wear black toa wedding, so with o red, no black, no white, and no whatever color the BM's are wearing, what's left?

I think you should be more concerned if she wore white.. Lots of evening dresses come in red-- I think the second most popular color next to black.

have a very nice dress, that I wore to a wedding, that was red. I did not feel I was grabbing any attention - it was actually very elegant. I don't think there is anything wrong with it, I wouldn't mind anyone wearing red - unless its really sluty! (but that goes for any color)!

Okay, here's the dress if it helps. I don't see anything wrong with I think, but I want to get a consensus because the girl did actually ask for an opinion on it.

I love that dress and red is my favorite color so yep, I'd wear it!

I don't know if I would, but I don't think it would take the attention away from the bride. I really don't think it's that much of an attention grabber that it would take the attention from a beautiful bride and groom. I would probably think of wearing black before red, but that is just my taste.

ETA: that dress is nice, and very pretty for a wedding. Not an attention grabber though.

I have to agree with the others here, I think that dress is very tasteful.

Coincidentally, my mother and I both wore red dresses to my cousin's wedding. I had a really hard time finding a dress and this was the best one.

At the wedding, the bride made a snide comment to me about it. It still makes no sense to me.

At least I know what color she'll be wearing -- even though it was over 10 years ago, she knows how to hold a grudge.

Thanks for your opinions. My initial reaction was that there's nothing wrong with it at all, but my BM made me question that (she hasn't seen the dress, so that might have to do with it). Thanks again!!

I completely agree. It's the style of the dress that matters not the color.
