the non-diamond e-ring thread!
I've always wanted to start this thread, even if I am the only one on it (though I know Q should post!)
anyway, I never wanted a diamond- I always wanted a blue colored stone- after much arguing with fh (was pretty funny actually-imagine a MAN trying to CONVINCE a WOMAN to get a DIAMOND) but when I showed him this stone, he loved it too.
here is my gorgeous non-diamond e-ring....anyone else want to play!

wow jess..that is beautiful!! I actually always wanted an emerald cut saphire with trillion diamonds on each side..but FH got me a round diamond in a tiffany setting. Don't get me wrong, I love my ring...but am a huge fan of saphire and diamonds!! I am actually thinking of getting a diamond and saphire wedding band!

Thanks Jess for starting this thread!
My E-Ring is a Ruby. Ever since I was little I told everyone "I want a Ruby as an engagement ring. I want to be different."
So when FI and I started to talk about marriage I told him and he kind of looked at me weird but said whatever you want you got it. Here he thought he was getting off easy since he figured a Ruby would cost much less than a Diamond. Boy was he wrong! 
So here is my very blurry pic of my E-Ring. As soon as I own a camera (I have never owed one in my life) I will post better pics.

Beautiful rings girls! I have a diamond in mine. I'm guess i'm old fashioned....BUT...a friend of mine has a purple stone in her e-ring (not sure what the gem is called) and it's beautiful! AND, another friend of mine who recently got married has both diamonds AND saphires in her wedding band and it is one of the most GORGEOUS wedding bands I've ever seen!!!!

And Jessica, I just wanted to say that I too wanted a blue stone really badly...I wanted a blue diamond in the baddest way but they're just not affordable (the natural ones anyway) and DH got me my dream ring with a diamond center...but a sapphire would have looked amazing...or an aquamarine. Your stone is flawless!
It's so funny because it seems we have a lot of similarities...heehee!

if you don't already have a dealer for your stone, please allow me to recommend mine. he was great and gave us a good price and the stones are gorgeous. I have a ceylon sapphire (which is why it's a little lighter in color) but he has many gorgeous precious and semi-precious stones..
Sasha, I know you work in jewelry, but I could send you his way too. you know, the original ring I wanted was from Tiffany, and it was aquamarine, which is only a 7 on the harness scale, and a sapphire is a 9...one shy of the diamond's 10.

You rock with your knowledge! I know aquas are soft, but they're so beutiful and delicate...although I'm rough, so go figure!
Your sapphire totally looks like a fancy color diamond...a vivid blue (which is the rarest - and you know that). Tiffany actually owns a blue diamond called "hydrangea" and your ring reminded me of that. Plus the clarity of the side stones is crystal clear...your FH did a great job! But like I said, I'm rough and I would totally scratch my stones...
