Spinoff to black tie wedding...
What are you putting on your invitation?*Black tie
*Black tie optional
*Semi-formal
or something else?
We're having a saturday night wedding so we want it to be somewhat formal, but not black tie. Any suggestions? Thanks!

Excuse the mini-hijack but the above statement can be interpreted in many ways...

Re: Spinoff to black tie wedding...
I read in an etiquette book that you either put Black Tie or not, you supposedly should not use Black Tie optional.I wouldn't write anything if you want it to be formal, but not black tie- your guests should be able to figure out that its formal based on the place and sat night wedding...

Re: Spinoff to black tie wedding...
Hey Jess!!! This is my first time posting here!!! Something's up with the knot!A while back I was having issues with whether or not to put a dress code on the invite because our Sat. afternoon wedding has sooo many casual aspects but that's just to match our attitude... not our dress code. I think I've decided to leave it out and let it be what it will be.
Anywho... IMO for you... I'd say black tie optional. That way they'll know it's formal and you're not asking your quests to go out and get a tux (they may take it out of your gift!). Your special male relatives will and that will be special to point them out.

Re: Spinoff to black tie wedding...
even though i guess it isnt etiquette, i am putting black tie optional/invited (we will see which one)MOST people are not from LI, wont know the place at all, many dont even know how weddings are in the US, sooo I want them to know it is formal, they should come dressed up, and people come in tuxes, great! if they come in suits thats great too...

I'm not putting anything on the invite.EAT: heheheh, of course I'll put the necessary info such as bride and groom names, place, date, time. I just read my post and it made it seem like I was sending out a blank invitation!

Re: Spinoff to black tie wedding...
If we decide to go black tie then I'll put it. But otherwise I think people will know it's at least semi-formal... We too are having a Saturday night wedding.
