Close to booking - Chateau Briand or Westbury Manor - please post pros and cons!

Hi,

After being engaged for 9 months and pretty much having trouble finding 'the place' we have narrowed it down to Chateau Briand and Westbury Manor. Please let me know anything you can about these places! I liked them both very much even though they are very different.

PLEASE HELP!

I love CB for the modern feel. I have received excellent follow up from my CB. This is why I choose to book them.

I've heard that Westbury Manor's food is excellent. And the premises is beautiful for pictures.

I booked WM because I loved the Victorian look and the cosy feel of the place.

I am having the wedding in the Winter so Westbury Manor's gardens, which are gorgeous, may not be available for our use.

This is the same reason I booked. I get that 'feeling' every time I visit.

I think that you can get great pics in the lobby and photo studio of CB.

Both will have great food since they are both scotto brothers owned.

No but you can take pictures out there. Oh and my friend got married Nov 1 a few years ago and it was such a beautiful day we had the cocktail hour outside ... so it's possible.

It depends on what you like. the two places are completely opposite in decor ... ones victorian and one's art deco. Close your eyes and picture yourself in both places, where do you see yourself more comfortable?

Me too! Warm cozy...very welcoming. The MAIN reason we chose WM.

BUT with that said...you can't lose no matter which place you choose. They're both wonderful places. Excellent food at both.

There really are no pro's and con's so to speak, having visited both I think it comes down to the 'feel' you want at your wedding, if you want a modern or nautical theme ( the grand entrance reminds me of a cruise ship) then CB is the way to go. If you want more of a garden, old world, classic feel, then WB is the way to go. Both have good food and excellent service.

I am getting married in the winter at WM, and they do use the outside for pictures, etc. But obviously not for the cocktail hour. Our cocktail hour is upstairs; my only complaint about that though is that there is no elevator for those in a wheelchair.

We didn't look at CB, mainly because we were afraid of the traffic on Old Country Road the week before Christmas.

We requested to have our CH downstairs because of my Aunt is in a wheelchair and FH's Grandpa uses a walker. At first we got the 'someone will help them out', but then I think they realized what they said and changed it to downstairs.

Loved my wedding at Chateau Briand, loved other people's weddings at Westbury Manor. I pretty much love the Scotto Halls.

I'm no help. Sorry. Just wanted you to know you're in good hands either way.

(I have a LOT of pictures of Chateau Briand on my website - Click here )

Re: Close to booking - Chateau Briand or Westbury Manor - please post pros and cons!

We fell in love with Chateau Briand. CB just has an excellent feel to it. They really have gone out of the way to make sure we know what is going on and keep us involved and very comfortable. When we went on our original tour, we were there for close to 2.5 hours!

I also like the fact that CB has so many areas inside that would look great for pictures. Between the awesome lobby, and the photo studios, even if it is a horrible day outside, you can be assured that you will have great pics. I also like that in the photo studios they have a full service bar, and food to eat while you are taking pictures, and others wait to take pics with you.

Westbury Manor we looked at, and is a beautiful place. It has a nice feel to it, but not the feel we were looking for.

Maybe I will bring this up when we meet with them next week for the menu...one of my aunts now needs a cane to get around, so I'm sure it'll be tough for her to get upstairs :)

Yes, I absolutely agree 100%. We are getting married at the reception hall we choose and it is the Winter, so we really need a place that allows a lot of areas for pics. And our tour was also 2 1/2 hours! They really make you feel special and I did not find that as much at WM, sad to say...

Re: Close to booking - Chateau Briand or Westbury Manor - please post pros and cons!

We chose WM because we loved the fact that it didnt have the 'catering hall' look. It is a converted mansion, and feels that way when you walk inside. The gardens are beautiful all year long. I felt 'at home' at WM. I never saw CB, so I can't really comment on it. But from what everyone is saying, they are total opposites. So you need to decide what kind of background you want- modern, or the cozy/home feeling. Its totally up to you? Where do you see your wedding when you close your eyes and imagine the day?

Thanks!

Our Reception was in Normandy (Cocktail Hour in Europa, Ceremony in DaVinci). People are still talking about us coming up through the floor.
