What kinds of gifts does one usually give for an engagement party?

Do you mean gifts you'll get or you have to give a gift. I usually give money. We got mostly money for our eparty b/c we didn't register - we only got 2 gifts. But I've been to eparties where people registered and they got a ton of gifts, mostly off their registry. Although I remember at my sisters eparty a few years ago she got a ton of vases and candy bowls and stuff.

I got a lot of $$, some frames for wedding pics, champagne flutes, and wine goblets. I also got some gift cards to Macy's and Home Goods.

We got $$$ and alot of stuff off the registry-vases,candle stick holders, etc

me too - well at least my BBB registry (the Fortunoff one was untouched). Also alot of gift cards, frames, some bride and groom figurines, $$$.

we got $, plates from registry, wine glasses and a bunch of other stuff that has been sitting in my closet the past year as I have no place to put it. When we buy a house it will all be a new present.

we got all money except for one gift. so, we put it our bank account for the wedding or house. we made money on it!!!! we had it at the swan club too

For our party we really just wanted $$$$$

But we got beautiful gifts also:
engraved frames, candle sets, spa gift certificates, bar sets, registry stuff, etc.

Stick with cash $75-$200 depending on closeness and what you can afford
