"Friend" vent - repost from LIF - UPDATED ON PAGE 3 WITH HER REPLY!

I was online a little while ago and was iming a friend of mine. Instead of going back and forth with the he said/she said.. Ill just post the convo...

me: how was your christmas?

her: it was ok and yours
me: good

her: THERE IS SOMETHING I HAVE BEEN WANTING TO SAY CAUSE IT WAS REALLY BOTHERING ME

me: what
her: AHH FORGET IT

me: ew, tell me

her: I THOUGHT IT WAS KIND OF MESSED UP YOU GAVE ALISSA A 40 GIFTCARD FOR HER COMMUNION. AND IT REALLY HAS BEEN BOTHERING ME

me: why is that?

her: IM SICK OF PEOPLE TREATING ME LIKE ****. I KNOw YOU HAVE MONEY AND THAT WAS KIND OF MESSED UP. I DONT HAVE A JOB OR MAKE MONEY AND I WOULD DO MORE THEN THAT

me: excuse me?? u KNOW we have money?? umm ok u obviously dont know shyt then

her: WELL I SAID WHAT I HAD TO SAY

me: sorry u feel that way. didnt realize that our friendship was based on money. If we had more to give at the time we would have.

IS THIS CHICK FOR REAL?? First off, the communion was SEVEN MONTHS AGO.. and she is going to NOW talk about how "messed" up I was for not giving her daughter more money??? WHO SAYS THINGS LIKE THIS!?!?!?

Please tell me I am not crazy thinking she was totally off base saying this to me. I could see if it were a family member or something.. but this was a friend of mine who's daughter was receiving her communion. I honestly didn't think a $40 gift card was CHEAP! Granted, I would of loved to have been able to give her more, but we were saving for our wedding and other things. Shes lucky I didnt throw in her face that last Christmas I spent over 200 bucks buying her daugther clothes, without a return gift from her. I didnt care about it... because it was a gift.... I still cannot believe she had the nerve to say this to me!

omg, please tell me that she wasn't serious! that is so messed up! who is she to say what you can and cannot afford. any how could anyone ever comment on a gift that was given to their child. they should be grateful for any type of gift that they receive.

The gift was for her KID, NOT HER so what difference does it make if she was working???????!!! What does a $40 giftcard for her child have to do with her having or not having a job?!

that was f'd up of her. it's not like you're directly related to them that you feel the need to give anything more than that. not only that, it's a "gift". there's no set amount on a present. she should be thankful her daughter got anything considering it was right before your wedding! i'd definitely be po'd too!!!

Diana, not to hijack but this reminded me of an incident from a few years ago.

I gave a $100 savings bond to my friend for her son's christening. She told me a few times since then (but not recently) that she doesn't know where it is and if I still have the receipt. The first time she said something to me it was something like "are you sure you handed it to me"? umm, yea! at the Christening.

it's not my problem that she misplaced it and I found it rude that she brought it up to me more than once.

Either she has a screw loose, or there is something else that is truly bothering her and she decided to use this to pick some random fight.

THATS WHAT I WAS THINKING!! But.. like I said on LIF.. she IS working!!!
Oh but maybe at the time of the communion she wasnt.. but then again.. what does not working have to do with anything?? Ok so you arent working and I am supposed to sign my paycheck over to you????

wow. I think that was very rude esp. bringing it up 7 months later. The fact that you gave a gift at all should be appreciated and esp. because you were planning a wedding at the time. Some people have no class or tact. I had to cut off my best friend for similar crazy behavior. It hurts but sometimes you just don't need extra crazy in your life.
