What is one of the worst books that you ever read? I never hear people talking about this....I'm just curious.....

Steve Hadden, I think - I loved that book - but I work with people with autism - so i totally understood it - i was surprised how many peolpe unfamiliar with autism still liked the book, but I can see why it didn't really pull you in...
I HATED the book Wicked - never saw the show or anything - but read Wicked for a book club, otherwise I would have stopped - I still couldn't get to the end of it!

I hated Wicked, too. I love the musical, though. They're completely different. There was not one thing I liked about the book, but everyone I know who read it RAVED about it. I'm so glad I'm not alone.

I think it's because the play is nothing like the book. I mean really they have the same names as the characters in the book, but the entire plot is different and they cut out all of the boring crap.

same with me, liked it, not loved it. I couldn't get through the sequel though (son of a witch).
I haven't seen the play yet.

I read Wicked also. I didn't hate it, but I didn't really like it. I too had to read it for a book club also. It was painful to finish. It was actually the book that inflicted death on our book club.
I saw the play. I liked it and I thought the set was great (I love that theater), but it wasn't one of my favorites.

aka...abosolute torture. It was the only book that I refused to read in college and used cliffs notes to write my paper

Hannibal was awful - so was the movie.
I tried reading Memoirs of Geisha about 3 times a few years ago - I could never get past the first 50 pages - soooooooo boring.

awful.
i was sick the week before our wedding and missed 2 days from work. that's the ONLY reason why i finished it.
and now i refuse to read the mermaid chair which people say is good - it's by the same author.

I know I'm late getting in on this subject... but I have to say the book I hated most was The Shipping News... I only made it about halfway through and gave up. It was soooo slooooow.

I loved it too....I agree you need to have some experience with Autism to really appreciate it. My mom tried to read it a number of times and just couldn't get into it at all
