any LIW brides live outside of NY???

i thought i'd start a thread for LIW brides that don't live in NY. planning a wedding from 250 miles away is insane!!! it's so hard to get things done and meeting with vendors is limited to short weekend trips.

anyway, if there are any other LIW brides doing this from a distance, join the thread and vent with me!

i grew up in queens and moved to dc 9 years ago. i miss NY sooo much!!!! i'm getting married in NY next year and i hope to be moving back too!

Me, me, me! We're planning our wedding from sunny Los Angeles, CA. Oh it's a pain in the arse, I tell ya! Booking a flight right now to come in and make our final arrangements for the wedding!

Me... 3,000 mile away, CA.... sorry about the east coast snow over there.. i was in 80 degree weather tanning by the pool today (ok, i dont have much of a tan) But I too miss NY, and actually miss the snow!...

I hear ya about distance... my biggest thing right now, is my dress is not here in any stores in CA so trying to find a headpiece/veil i like with my go is going to be difficult!

Hair trials.. uggggg with that too.. my wedding is in Sept.. i hope to do Limos, pick out tuxes, another hair trial.. get girls dresses ordered.. Not sure what else to concentrate on at this time while i am there... check out veils and headpieces with the sample dress at the bridal shop...

it just costs a fortune to fly to NY to do stuff so i cram a lot at once..

I am from Queens as well, but I moved to Los Angeles last year.

Planning has been kind of rough. Thank goodness I was able to take care of some of the big things (hall, church, band) before I moved out here.

However the other things were difficult (hair, make up, photographer). I had back to back appointments for 4 days when I went back to NY during Christmas.

I relied a lot on LIW to get feedback of any vendors I was thinking about using. I don't know what I would do without the ladies on this site.

They are awesome.

FH and I live in Maryland, and we're planning our LI wedding mainly from MD, with some visiting on the weekends to do wedding stuff. I am in NY this weekend to do my MU trial and ordered my veil. But due to the snowstorm, I had to cancel my hair trial. I have to come back next weekend! It's hard, but we started so early and we're trying to be organized. It's working so far.

are anny of you making your rsvp date earlier than you would if you were on LI? i am thinking about it to give us more of a buffer to finalizing those certain things that ger finalized right before a wedding.. and gives us more time to harass those that dont send RSVP's in a timely manner...

We did ours 5 weeks before the wedding. I think I would have done the same thing if I was getting married in MD.

ME, ME. I'm planning from Georgia. Moved here 6 yrs ago to go to school, met the man of my dreams and haven't been back! I miss NY alot. Mainly my family and friends!

It's been very difficult with the planning process, but I'm very lucky to have my 2 sisters and my mom take over soooo much responsibility for me. I'm very lucky!

I'll actually be up in NY in 2 weeks to finalize all the vendors, the hall, etc, have a 2 m/u trials, my bridal shower and my bachelorette party. It's going to be a packed weekend, but I can't wait to see my family and friends!

I did it a little early b/c we have so many coming from OOT. I did want the extra time for those stragglers.

Im living in jersey.. not as bad as the rest of you ladies, since I can take weekend trips.. but its evil cause its the busiest time to go, and ***** up all my weekend 'down time' , weeknights are not possible.

I wish you girls lots of luck! I know im annoyed with planning from less then 100 miles away... nevermind 3000!

I live in CT and planning from here. It is not too bad since I can go back and forth on weekends when I need to ... BUT it doesnt take up a lot more time on the weekends than If we could be doing stuff during the week. I enjoy panning so it isnt too bad

Yup... Jersey here too! Wasn't too bad, but our vendors had to be very accomodating to us since we could not go during the week. When we did our menu we had a 7:00 pm Sunday appointment. What a PIA!

Hey Jersey girls me too... but I have started to look at Jersey vendors... for photographer and video.. maybe even band... I have been going after work... and they all travel to LI. something to consider

I live in Dallas, Texas. My FH is from New York. I have been making trips to NY to meet with vendors here and there. It is DEFINITELY thanks to the LIW ladies that I have found the majority of my vendors. Otherwise, this process would have been very tough.

My biggest dilemma right now is concerning the wedding itself. I would rather NOT drive to New York from Texas (24 hr drive, without stops). I am trying to make favors / decorations for the reception etc. However, the problem is I don't have anywhere to ship it, therefore I have to either CARRY it to NY or drive to NY. Anyone have creative ideas?

well Im still in New York state but up north in Dutchess County!!!! sometimes I hate the drive to Long Island especially to Suffolk where almost all my vendors are at

I'm planning from Maryland with the help of my Mom. It's starting to get stressful now, almost all of my weekends will be spent up there until the wedding leaving no down time.

I'm working on my FH, trying to get him to move to NYC or LI. Hopefully one day soon!

Where in DC are you? So am I....did the planning in 11 months...fm me if you want---mostly NY vendors but did a bunch of stuff in DC too (rings, invitations, etc, etc)
