Why do people have to be tacky!? (VENT)

So i'm at my brother's house, and i can't quite remember how the conversation turned to my wedding...but it did. he then says 'So how much $$ are you paying per person?' so the conversation follows:

Me: 'Why do you want to know?'
Him: ' What's the big deal? just tell me how much $$ you are spending a person?'
Me: 'I don't really feel comfortable talking about it. '
[because i know he'll be a gossip and tell other friends & family, and it's just none of their business]
Him: ' Well i would think you would tell people to make sure that everyone gives enough to cover their plate'
Me: 'W T F? i am not having a wedding to make sure i get lots of $$. '
His GF: [whom i nicknamed- 'The Whore' can ya tell i don't like her much?] 'Like i thought that that's information you make sure EVERYONE knows, so like, they know they have to give a certain amount!'
Me: 'That's the most stupid thing I've ever heard...so if I tell you i'm paying $250 a head, you're gonna give me $500? YEAH RIGHT. and NO it's not something you do--you don't just go around telling all your guests how much you spent per person.'
The Whore: 'Oh, like I would do that...just so they know.'

Seriously? ?! what is wrong with them?!

Ron needs to come up with a b*tch slap icon.

I have no idea why so many people ask but it really is nobody's business. Would they decline if it were say $29.99 per person or give you a $29.99 gift

The gift (if one is even given) is based on the relationship with the couple NOT the location of the wedding. A good friend had her wedding at a firehouse last year and it was lovely. I know they did not spend a ton of money but I still gave them a $200 check. It's a wedding for God's sake not a club with a cover charge

Can I just tell you, it doenst get easier either. Same thing happened to me and when I outright refused to devulge the information, they then take upon themselves to 'guesstimate' how much you are spending and spread that rumor around

i'm sure they will do this. they are utterly tacky and ghetto fabulous people. i love my brother but The Whore has destroyed his sense of morals and ethics.
