the little things in life...
So after school I stopped by a local coffee shop in Harvard Square. As I picked up my coffee from the bar I saw a book sitting there with a post-it on it that said 'I am free!! Look inside! Take me! I'm not lost!'The book is called 'Eloise' - I'm sure many of you have read Eloise books in elementary school. It's the first hand account of a 6 year old who lives in the Plaza hotel.
In any case the book is a part of a site called Book Crossing. The idea is that you read a book, register it with the site and 'release' it - leave it in a coffee shop or somewhere where someone will find it. You read the book, go to the website (www.bookcrossing.com), fill out a journal entry about how you found it, and then you go ahead and leave it somewhere else for someone else to find, read, and enjoy. The idea is like the flat stanley idea - it travels around the world. But what's cool is you can go onto the website and track where the book has gone!!
What a BEAUTIFUL idea! And, if you go onto the site, you can see if there are any books floating around in your area!!

It really really brightened my day!
Andddddd, if you have a book you want to register and send off for someone else to enjoy, you can go onto the site and register and release a book!!

OMGOSH! I love that!!! I love passing books!!! I'll have to investigate this weekend.It's not quite the same, but I always leave my old mags on the LIRR when I'm done reading them hoping it will pass the time for someone else.

I can't explain how much it brightened my day!! Check it out! I hope the next book I get is a novel. I am always looking for a good book to read!!

that's a fabulous idea. I'm sure by being able to track that book it shows how small the world is and how something can travel so far so soon.
