Wear engagement ring and diamond wedding band on honeymoon cruise??
The next conversation in the house is whether my 'girls' (nickname for my rings) go with me on our honeymoon cruise. They are insured but I am still worrying about taking them. I also know that if I am sitting at dinner with other couples who got married and I am wearing my plain old wedding band I will feel sad and miss my rings. We could leave them in the safe in the cabin but I am still uncomfortable doing that and I am not sure I love the idea of wearing them on the islands themselves. What do you think?

Re: Wear engagement ring and diamond wedding band on honeymoon cruise??
why would you not want to wear your rings? The way I feel is that they were bought to be worn, not to be sitting in some box collecting dust..
They're insured, so why not?

Wear them! I flew mine to Hawaii and they were fine! :)If you're worried about swimming with them or something, lock them in the safe and just wear them out at night.
Don't leave them home!

I don't plan to take my e-ring b/c of value, wedding band maybe... But then again, I never take expensive stuff on vacations with me... I don't want to worry about loss or theft.

Wear them!!!! If there is any activity that would give you cause for concern (like swimming or whatever), I am sure the ship has a safe deposit box. That's what I did with my rings when I couldn't wear them.

I totally agree with MarcellaBella. Especially if you have gotten them insured. I'm sure you will be wishing you had brought them.

each room has their own individual safe, and they change the electronic passcode for every cruise sailing!

Ok, you had me cracking up calling them your 'girls'- hahahaha.... I say wear them. I just picked my wedding band up today- diamonds as well and I plan on taking mine. I did go on vacation this year w/ the E.Ring... was nervous in the water as my finger shrunk and it felt like it could fall off. I'd say just put them in the saftey deposit box for activites like that- but wear them! Let them shine

Wear them!! That's what they are for! It's like when people don't use their fine china and only save them for 'special occassions'! Everyday is a special occasion!

I wasnt going to wear my ring to Europe until I realized I was going to be more worried about it getting stolen/lost at home than i would on my finger. I brought it with me and wore it all over Italy...and it was perfectly safe. I say bring it - a ring is meant to wear/enjoy, not store away.

I would never even consider leaving them. That is what insurance is for! I wear mine on NYC subways and ferries everyday - nothing can be worse than that! Make sure your husband got good insurance - mine is insured for the appraisal value so if anything happens, we get the money and then we can go get another ring.

Re: Wear engagement ring and diamond wedding band on honeymoon cruise??
I guess I am in the minority on this. I did not take my diamond rings with me on our honeymoon. I just wore my plain gold band. We honeymooned in Tahiti, and having never been there prior to the HM, I didn't know what the rooms (overwater bungalows) would be like, or if they had in-room safes, etc. I didn't know what the security of the room would be. Most of the bungalows can be accessed by swimming right up to them, and coming right in. Turns out, I probably could have worn my rings, since most of the other newlyweds we met did. But, there were others that chose to leave their jewelry behind as well. Also, we were going to be on a lot of very small boats, swimming a lot, etc. and I just didn't want to risk losing it in the water.
But, would not recommend just leaving your rings at home! I had my parents put my rings, my diamond pendant, pearls and other jewelry in their safe deposit box at the bank, until I returned home to get them. Don't take chances!
All this aside, I don't know if I'd have the same reservations about being on a cruise. While the ship is big and there are a lot of passengers, I think I would be a lot more secure about the safety of my rings and other possessions on a boat. Just like in a regular hotel. JMO.

Re: Wear engagement ring and diamond wedding band on honeymoon cruise??
I didn't take my engagement ring on our honeymoon to Costa Rica. I knew we'd be doing activities where I wouldn't want to be wearing the ring (white water rafting, kayacking, canopy tours, etc) and there was no where I was going to feel safe leaving it.Also it such a poor country I didn't want to be flashing the stone around.
I did wear my wedding band that has diamonds in it, but its much less flashy, and wouldn't get in the way.
On a cruise, I would wear them both.

For Safety reasons leave your rings at home. Some oif the ships like royal carib dont have the safes in the rooms.

I'm going on a cruise also and I'm wearing mine. I might put them in the safe while I'm swimming in the ocean but other than that I'll be wearing them
Just make sure you have them insured before you go!!!

Re: Wear engagement ring and diamond wedding band on honeymoon cruise??
My DH MADE me leave mine at home for our HM!
I was sooooo mad and upset, but after I got to Aruba, it didn't matter to me anymore. I was with many other newley married ladies and they had their rings, but it didn't bother me at all. I really thought it would. My rings are both insured but my DH figured it would be safer at home and didn't want to hear me cry if anything happened to them. His parents agreed with him (actually they are the ones that suggested it). They own a jewlery store and have told me many horror stories of girls loosing them in the ocean or having them stolen from the safe in their room. My MIL and SIL never travels with them on. They leave them in their safe.I say, just use your best judgement. I really wanted them with me, but now I'm glad I didn't take them (which I will never admit to my DH)!
Good luck!
Kelly
