my sister had her baby... he is very sick... ***2nd UPDATE***

i cant even tell you how upset i am right now.. i barely could sleep last night...

well she had the baby yesterday 2/10... his name is Zachary John.. 6lbs.

little Zachary has fluid in his lungs, and he got worse through the night... he is on a ventilator..
Dave and I got to see him in ICU.. he is hooked up to all these tubes, one in his mouth... he is soo tiny, i was crying i felt soooo horrible for this poor baby.

my sister is staying positive and strong.. her husband on the other hand is not taking it too well.. but the docs said he 'should' be ok.. but not 100%.

please pray that he will be ok... i will keep you updated.. i just dont know how i can sit here and actually work today.. its going to be a long one.


UPDATE..2/11/08.......
ok well my mother just called me ... she just left the hospital ... basically he has made no improvement from last night and he is not in the incubator anymore...but he has a heat lamp (??) over him..?? no idea what that means??
my sister is very upset today...worse than yesterday.. she does not want any visitors.. i feel terrible for her... i have no words

i just want to thank ALL of you for the kind words and all your prayers!! it really means a lot to me ,



UPDATE... 2/12/08.......
ok well last night was rough.. my sis was soo upset.. i tried to comfort her in every way possible.
they said he has a preforated lung.. (i guess that means small hole??) so they need for that to get filled up.. which happens on its own.. BUT, all his vitals seem good, and they did say that he improved 'slightly' so im taking that as a great sign..

i am extremely tired from not sleeping, and have a huge migrain from yesterday that i cannot get rid of.. i am really struggling with this.

once again, i am sooo overwhelmed with all the responses and prayers... it sounds crazy, but it really does help! thanks so much everyone!!

This is very scary... My brother and I were premies as were my twin sisters who didn't make it, so I know how scaryit can be to see these tiny babies. They ARE fragile BUTsoooo many advances in medicine for babies has come out.....he might need come extra luv and care but I am sure he will with God's grace, be ok. It just may take longer than with most babies.

Just try to be there for one another and stay positive. FM me if ya need to talk.

its amazing the kind of care the NICU can provide for babies---i know its hard to see him like that...but i'm sure they will do everything for him and he'll be a happy healthy baby!

oh deanna - i am so sorry DH & i will be keeping ur sis & hubby & their little miracle in our prayers.... if he's been a fighter so far i'm SURE he'll be okay! lots of hugs stay strong & positive for ur sister & keep us updated!

Stay strong! I know it must be so difficult, but hopefully with all of the medical advances we've made, baby Zachary will be MUCH better in no time!

My GF's DD was born with fluid in her lungs and she was sick for a little while. Her immunities were low for a little while.
Now she i a very healthy, happy little girl! Your nephew and my family are in my prayers

De, I'm so sorry your family is going through this. I hope and pray that he will be just fine and this is just a scary time that will be a blip on the radar of a long and healthy life. I can't even imagine how you must be feeling right now, but you've got a lot of people thinking of him today so hopefully all those good thoughts will give you some comfort and give him some strength.

Here's my 2 cents, though - leave work. If you can swing taking the time off, go be with your sister. Your head is not in work mode today so you're not doing yourself or your office any good by sitting there when you really want to be with your family. It will be good for your peace of mind if you can go be with her.

We are all here for you honey
