i cant even tell you how upset i am right now.. i barely could sleep last night...

well she had the baby yesterday 2/10... his name is Zachary John.. 6lbs.

little Zachary has fluid in his lungs, and he got worse through the night... he is on a ventilator..
Dave and I got to see him in ICU.. he is hooked up to all these tubes, one in his mouth... he is soo tiny, i was crying i felt soooo horrible for this poor baby.

my sister is staying positive and strong.. her husband on the other hand is not taking it too well.. but the docs said he 'should' be ok.. but not 100%.

please pray that he will be ok... i will keep you updated.. i just dont know how i can sit here and actually work today.. its going to be a long one.


UPDATE.........
ok well my mother just called me ... she just left the hospital ... basically he has made no improvement from last night and he is not in the incubator anymore...but he has a heat lamp (??) over him..?? no idea what that means??
my sister is very upset today...worse than yesterday.. she does not want any visitors.. i feel terrible for her... i have no words

i just want to thank ALL of you for the kind words and all your prayers!! it really means a lot to me ,

ok, well at least he's out of the incubator.....I think the heat lamp is for jaundice? (sp?)......if so, that's pretty common w/ newborns, I think they need the lamp for a day or so and then they're fine.

Aww De hang in there - everything's going to be OK! Everything looks super scary when they're this small. Even though your sister wants to be alone right now it will be good for you to go sit with her - even if it means sitting on the other side of the door or in a waiting area nearby. On top of everything else that's making her upset there is a chance she could be having some post partum issues and it's important for her to be surrounded with people who love her right now. (Duh, i know you know that!!)

You're such a good sister and you're gonna be a fantastic aunt once all of this is over and Zachary is healthy and ready to be spoiled rotten!!

He may have the heat lamp if he has jaundice (when they look yellow) but if he is not in the incubator anymore that is a GREAT sign. I think he's going to be ok. Just needs some extra TLC-you're going to be a terrific auntie!

Dearest DeAnna,
You, Your Sister, Her Husband, and Your Family are in our thoughts and prayers. When my sister had her baby he was fine at first. That night the nurses noticed something was up. He had went to bathroom when he was still in womb and had swallowed a little. My sister was very upset and me being the older sister and in NY. I had to be strong for her. He was a heathly weight but he had to stay in NICU for a extra week. He will be turning two on April 20, and he is a healthy active little boy. Can't wait to see him again.

Our thoughts and prayers are with Zachary to be a heathly and strong boy!!!

Just read your post and wanted to send some hugs to you and your family. I know what your sister is going through right now. I gave birth 2 weeks ago to a lil girl 10 weeks early. My due date was April 1st. She was on oxygen but I know how scary the NICU can be with all the wires hooked up to the babys. My lil girl was on the heat lamps a few days because she was jaundice. she is off of them now. I can totally understand what your sister is going through on not wanting visitors. It broke my heart for all my family and friends to visit me and not be able to see my baby. and to watch the other mommys have thier babies in their rooms and I couldnt see mine. Just give her all the love and support you can. I am sure the lil guy will pull through just fine! I'll say an extra prayer for him!
