i guess no bachelorette party for me

Well, I guess it is safe to say I will not be having a bachelorette party. Nobody has said anything to me. All my friends are married with kids & I understand that. However, I wouldn’t have minded doing something low key. I even hinted to one of my friends maybe a dinner with a few close friends at a local place. Nothing ever came of it. It didn’t really bother me until today. Tomorrow is FH bachelor party & they are going to the city in a limo. Most of his friends are single, but the BM lives in Vermont & has 2 year old twins. He came through for him…its something called effort. I was just thinking of when these girls got married, I organized all their bachelorette parties & at the time I had no money. I didn’t mind because they are good friends. I’m not surprised that my MOH/sister didn’t come through because I have had problems with her since the beginning. That didn’t have to stop my other other girlfriends from initiating something. Funny, this girl who I just became friendly with at work and barely know for a month wants to take me out but these girls who I grew up with don’t want to do anything.

Boy this wedding planning has really been an eye opener for me ! you really find out who your real friends are.

Sorry I just had to vent. Am I being selfish or unrealistic

Re: i guess no bachelorette party for me

You are not being selfish at all!!! Maybe they are surprising you with something???

If not..you have every right to be upset!!! They could even do a dinner and then back to someone's house for some drinks. Anything.. to do nothing is horrible.

Im soooo sorry you are going through this!!

Take your work friend up on her offer.. you deserve to celebrate with your "REAL FRIENDS"

If it were me, I would flat out ask them- especially since you planned/participated in theirs.

you are not being selfish, they probably just are so caught up in their own lives that they forgot about it

maybe if you mention that your FH is going on his b party this weekend it might make them think... OH CRAAP!

AWWWWWWWW i am so sorry and cant believe that after you helped planned theirs and didnt even care that you didnt have money but did it because how much you care about them, they act like this now well i really hope that they do have something planned for you but really are good at keeping a secret.

I say go out with the person from work, and yes that is real sweet of her to ask. And just in case your girls dont have anything planned, i think they'll feel stupid if they find out somebody from work who you dont even know for long did something for you and they didn't. Go out with them and have the best time

I woudl jsut do that - to me, its worth ruining a surprise, bc no one likes to feel that way!

I hope the best!

No you're not being to selfish at all. You're right when you say you know who your true friends are at a time like this.

Don't upset yourself over this. If they didn't plan a surprise don't let it get to you.

Remeber why the reason you're doing all of this. For your soon to be DH. He's all the matters in the end.

i highly doubt it. basically 2 more weekends left until my wedding. i haven't picked up any hints at all.. all i get is "there isn't enough time in the day" or "wait until you have kids"

thanks anyway...

Re: i guess no bachelorette party for me

Im the last one in my group to be married and then all have kids..
I too have been tired of hearing wait until your married..wati until you have kids..

however..they are still planning an overnight trip for me.

Seriously...def ask them.. it's not unrealistic that you would think you are having something.. so ask them straight out!!!!!

THEN GO OUT AND PARTY WITH YOUR WORK FRIENDS!!!

Im sorry but thats not an acceptable excuse. They could take you out to dinner or even lunch when their kids are in school. Hire a babysitter or get the fathers to watch the kids, but to do nothing is really not right. I say go out with the friend from work and have a great time!

Just read this and I agree that's unacceptable. You did it for all of them.

I'm so sorry you are going through this. It really stinks when you are one of the last of your friends to get married, because everyone else has other things going on in their life by then. FH and I go through this too. You have every right to feel slighted....especially since you have made the effort for all of them. Are they all bridesmaids?

Re: i guess no bachelorette party for me

I thought i was the only one! I have two girls in my BP. Both have been married a few years and i participated in both of their bachelorette parties. I really don't think they are doing anything for me either. They are both helping my mom with the shower, which i really appreciate, but i really thought they would do something for a BParty. I don't think they're doing anything cuz they dont know who my other friends are and would have no clue on who to invite without asking me. I'm starting to feel down about it too, since i know FH's friends will doing something for him. Nothing elaborate, just a night at a bar. Thats all i would like to do to, maybe just dinner and a bar, but doesn't look like its going to happen.

I thought Bpartys weren't really supposed to be a surprise.. my bp asked what I wanted to do.. I told them.
I think maybe you both should bring it up..just say..

"so what do you guys want to do for my bparty?"

I basically planned my own with MOH. I think people don't really know if it's supposed to be a surprise.. if they don't think it is..maybe they are waiting for you to bring it up.

Good luck!!

Re: i guess no bachelorette party for me

thanks for all your replies

i am not that sad as i am disappointed if that makes sense. i am going on a MAJOR shopping spree tomorrow & if i have time get a mani/pedi.

i will take my friend up on her offer & make sure it gets back to them. ALL of us have hectic lives but being a good friend means putting in some effort into your relationship. My FH best man is amazing. he has been back & forth from VT for tuxes, fittings, etc...

i guess you have to accept people for who they are !!

Re: i guess no bachelorette party for me

You aren't being selfish at all!!! But maybe it is a surprise??? I personally would say something to someone. There is no use for you to be miserable. Ask them what's going on? I would. Say he FH is going on his bachelor party anyone want to celebrate with me for mine? I don't think you should sit home. It's not cool they haven't planned but that doesn't mean that you should suffer. Talk to them.
