Re: puppy for sale
I'm sorry, but that really disturbes me that you are trying to make money off this dog!!!! You should be more concerned with finding a good home, not how much you can get. There are other ways to make money..but not off of an innoscent life like that. I'm sure if you bring it to the North Shore Animal League or Little Animal Shelter (in Huntington), since it's a puppy, it will get adopted to a proper home. I know the NSAL does very intense background screenings.

Re: puppy for sale
Sorry you are so disturbed. My FH breeds dogs though so selling them is part of the job. I really dont see a problem in selling puppies.

I agree. Unless this is a show dog you breed and have not been able to sell with the rest of the litter then just adopt it out. Not many people are going to buy a 5 month old dog for 1000 when they can get an 8 week old puppy, from a good breeder for less.
What is the reason for the resale? And why such an outrageous price tag? If you actually care for the dog you should just find it a good home, regardless of price and charge a small (like $100) adoption fee to ensure a good home.
Is the dog up to date on shots? Has it been fixed? Is it AKC? Are the hips guaranteed? Champion blood lines? Show or pet quality? Is the dog housebroken?

Re: puppy for sale
Yes the dog has all of it shots- it is a championship bloodline. She also has papers. We bred our dog once before and her puppies were all show dogs. The reason that she didnt sell with the rest of the puppies (which we sold for a lot more than that) is beacause she is long haired. I really shouldnt have to explain myself for trying to sell a dog.

Sorry but I help run an animal rescue and you wouldnt believe the reasons people sell there dogs. Alot of people try to sell mutts these days for 1000's of dollars, or pure breeds that have all these medical issues. Usually whenever someone tries to sell a dog thats older like that its because they walked into a pet store, bought a dog on a whim, and now have buyers remorse and are trying to recoup some money. But since this is a left over puppy from a breeding litter maybe try putting an ad in the local paper or try puppyfind.com. Either way good luck!

Re: puppy for sale
of course everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but i have to say that if you know anything about animals, you know that there are too many without homes and they're being euthanized every day because the shelters can't keep them all. why then would you BREED more of them?

Re: puppy for sale
This is so funny. You shouldn't feel the need to explain yourself. I bought two dogs, each for $1,000. I understand the reason for the price. You buy what you get and I got two beautiful poms. I would have sold their babies for the same price, but sadly, my female cannot have babies.

Re: puppy for sale
wow wow wow.. i know you guys have been waiting to hear from me and i wouldn't have responded but this really disturbs me. You should NOT be selling your dog for that much (ESPECIALLY at 5 months old. i bought my dachshund from a REAL breeder for about 500 cause he was 5 months old. the older they get, the cheaper the price should go. i could show him if i wanted to as well so don't use that excuse).. you are not a true breeder. are you registered with the AKC and with the german shepherd club of america?? if not, you are nothing. you are a backyard breeder. if you were really concerned with a dog getting a good home, you wouldn't be selling her for that money nor would you be having an attitude about people asking you why she's so much money. this is not your profession. there are thousands of dogs out there that are in desperate need of homes who will otherwise be euthanized yet you're breeding your dog for no other reason than to just make money. you are not bettering the breed. leave the breeding to the professionals. ugh.
and i'm happy to see the new guy
hopefully it was made in my honor

too bad you could not strike it rich off your dog....what about just having her for a pet, a companion, instead of for breeding. Unless you are a REGISTERED breeder, you should not be breeding, if you are, you ARE a BYB....plain and simple

Re: puppy for sale
i agree with you stefanie. i think there should be a law against backyard breeding where they get fined and are required by law to get their dogs fixed. it's ridiculous the amount of dogs out there that don't have homes or are in bad homes because 'breeders' don't do background checks or make sure they go into good homes. that's why i think pet stores are the worst. they don't care if the animal is going into a good home. they just want those $$$.and kara over on LIF. i COULD HAVE showed Finnegan if I wanted to but he just got neutered 2 weeks ago. my point was that just because it has show quality (which all dogs are supposed to be if you're breeding them!) doesn't mean you should ask for a ridiculous amount of money for a dog. if the dog was 5 months old for 1,000 i'd love to know how much it was when it was 8 weeks old!
